Aero Strait GP for Fe2 and Quartermaster Classic for F2 and F1600 Round 1
From Braselton, Ga. March 20, 2021- Round One of the Primus Parts Open Wheel challenge from Road Atlanta is complete. Bailey Monette from Comprent Motorsports dominated Race 1 of the Aero Strait Race Mirror Grand Prix . The weather was cool and sunny and a perfect day at the famed Road Atlanta. The Fe2 class started a solid field of 19 cars and the rookie driver Monette had an impressive win in his first year of driving this type of car. Look for this guy to be a contender moving forward. Young Veteran Max Grau came in 2nd and Charles Russell Turner in 3rd not far behind the leader as they both battled in the lead pack.
The Quartermaster Classic for f1600 ran Earlier in the day. The Team Pelfry drivers dominated as Nicholas D'orlando walked away with the win and team mate Mac Clark was right on his gearbox for 2nd. David Livingston Jr took the 3rd spot after charging back after a small mishap midway through the race. The F2000 class was easily won by Brandon Dixon as he sailed to an easy victory. Bill Johnson had a great run going until 2 laps to go when he damaged his front wing assembly coming on to the front strait and he was forced to exit the track. The young driver Austin Hill moved into 2nd spot in his MZR powered Elan Dp08 with Hartley MacDonald securing 3rd postion nearly running out of fuel as he coasted across start finish.
There are many prizes up for grabs following race 2 on Sunday. The Fe2 drivers are fighting for high quality carbon mirrors and plastic mirrors supplied by Aero Strait race mirrors and t he F1600 and F2000 cars will battle for the Quartermaster Clutches so we look forward to Sundays results to determine the winners.
