CFR and FLA Region drivers will recognize the name of long time CFR member Lyn Pollock who passed away December 9.
Lyn began SCCA racing in a shared Triumph TR7, which explains his ApexSpeed handle of EPRacer, but his long time passion was Formula Continental, which started when he acquired a yellow & Blue Van Diemen RF93 in 2001. He eventually bought and ran an immaculate yellow & blue RF99 that he raced at events in Florida, mostly at Sebring.
Lyn was a talented architect who spent a large part of his career working mainly in medical building design and construction ranging from new projects to remodeling existing facilities to meet the constantly changing needs of the medical field. He designed the Hospice facility in which he spent his last days.
Lyn got as much from the camaraderie and fellowship at the track as the competition and would always drop what he was doing to help another in need. He represented the best of club racing - he always had fun even on a bad day. He was the kindest man you would ever meet.
I am proud and privileged to have known him and to call him my friend. He will be missed.
The photo below was taken in October of this year. Lyn’s wife, Rene took the photo below. Even though he had lost most of the use of his left side by this time, he was eager to get behind the wheel, start the car, and blip the throttle a few times.
Rene just wanted him to have a little more seat time.
