Default Aim solo 2 or DL CFF

I have used the search function but not come up with to much info.

I am thinking about adding an aim solo 2 or solo 2 DL to my club ford for test days.

First question is where to mount it. I want to keep my stack tach behind the steering wheel. I have heard mixed things on if its ok to mount it to the steering wheel. Not a lot of room anywhere else.

Second is the DL worth the extra$$ to have the RPM data? I do not plan on using a smarty cam and am really only looking for lap times, but some basic data would be helpful such as corner exit speed. Don't think I would need RPM data but maybe I am missing something. I am just starting out so not looking for that last couple tenths.

    Thanks

Get the DL you may want those features later I wish I had. Even if you don't it will be an easier sell.

I mounted mine to my wheel and it worked just fine.

    Default Aim

Steering wheel. Unless you have an ECU the DL won’t be any better than Solo 2

Honda- DL may be worth the extra money. Ford- go for Solo II. Todd

If you have a Vee, Pinto or Kent and don't want a camera, then the Solo 2 is fine and a great value. If you want to add video or have an ECU to connect to, then go for the S2DL.

You can mount it on the wheel and use the GPS info. It may lose a bit of accuracy when turning, but would work. Best mounting is on the dash. I may have a used S2DL and camera setup for sale. I'd break it up if you only wanted the S2DL.

I have a Solo 2 mounted on a little bracket I made off of the dash of my 35F just above the gearshift lever. It works great for me. It is very handy to see the times during qualifying. For revs I look at my video which has a clear view of the tach.

By the way if you use Solo 2 you don't need any wires connected to it. Just make sure it is charged which should last a weekend.
