    Default Fuel cell rings-removing Vulcanization

Does anyone know how to remove the rubber that is vulcanized around the fuel cell ring for fill or access? the cell maker indicated I'd have to supply my own rings from my old fuel cell which I have cut out, but wondering how to clean them for reuse. Thanks for any tips
