This Caracal D "Lynx B" in it's current SCCA FV spec it wouldn't be vintage eligible, since it has zero-roll rear suspension, no fan & generator.

If it's a older Lynx B that was updated to SCCA's FV spec, you might be able to convert it back to a vintage Monoposto legal FV, but it wouldn't be easy.

I am familiar with this car. In its current condition it is not vintage eligible:

    1. It has zero roll rear end.
    2. It does not have a fan or cylinder shrouds.
    3. The large oil cooler/electric fan must be removed.

When Primo had it, it was a fast car. He built good motors.

    Default Quick questions

    Is this still available?

Also although it is not vintage eligible can it be raced in SCCA road racing?

I can't speak to availability, but pretty much if it isn't in Vintage spec, it is SCCA spec.... the cars just get updated rear suspension & take the cooling fans off.

Depending on how if was modified, it might be easy to convert back to original and run in vintage which is really big in that area. I believe DRE sold a kit to convert to a Citation style zero roll without cutting off the top of the frame around the tranny. If that is not disturbed you would need shocks and a Z bar (Fred Clark/Caracal). The fan shroud would be easy. Some of the body work may not be period specific, but someone can chime in if that is critical. You would need tires anyway....

OTOH - if the engine is solid, this would be a simple car to get started in FV to go road racing.

If it has trailing arms that go forward, it's a Lynx-B (Caracal-B).
If it has leading arms that go rearward, it's a Caracal-C.
Either way, definitely NOT a Caracal-D.

If it's a B, regressing the zero-roll back to a z-bar is easy IF the original vertical "box" frame is still present.
Otherwise, you're looking at some fabrication & welding.

Technically, the tail isn't vintage...but that's just dressing.

The uper cross frame of the box is "not" , The upper brace is "peaked" making trans removal easy, This would have to be cut out and a striaght piece (parallel with ground installed, Car was powder coated so it would need to be retouched. A picture would be self explanatory.

    Gotcha.
Some fab necessary...dealing with powdercoat is probably the hardest part.
Current or vintage, hope to see it on track in the near future...nice looking car.
