    Default Tire Weight Difference

Does anyone know if there is a difference in weight between the Hoosier VFF tire compared to the Dunlop tire? If so, any idea how much?

    Thanks,

    Steve,
Partial answer: I weighed a new set of VFF's at 62 pounds recently.
Hopefully an Avon user can add info. (Sasco would know).

The Hoosiers are 13lbs for the front and 17lbs for the rear. It looks like the Avons are real close to that as well.

Thanks Graham. That makes sense when Ian said 62 lbs for a new set of Hoosiers.

The reason I ask the difference between the two brands is because I currently have my Lola on a set of older, somewhat worn Dunlops. I am trying to get the ballast pretty close for which ever series I decide to run in, whenever we run again in Canada, or allowed to cross the border into the States.

    Thanks again,

Not my first hand experience but a friend was comparing Hoosier vs Avon as he was very close to min weight. Avons were about 2.5-3 lbs a tire lighter than Hoosier. 10-12 lbs per set. Again, I have not done the comparison but that is what was reported. Todd

Just weighed an older set of never-mounted Dunlaps, and the difference is significant: 9.4# fronts, 14# rears or 46.8# total. Always knew the Hoosiers were heavier.
