8860 helmet expiration???

When does a Arai GP-6RC expire? It is a SAH2010 with a FIA 8860 2010 standard? It was made in Sept 2019. The GCR doesn't explain the expiration of the 8860 helmets?

Don't have an answer to your question but asking another question does anyone know when the Snell 2015 approved helmets will be obsolete since the 2020 labeled ones are due the end of this year?

It's in the GCR:
Crash helmets approved by the Snell Foundation with Snell sticker 2010 or later Special Application
SA2010/SAH2010, or SA2015/SAH2015, or by the SFI with a SFI Sticker SFI 31.1, or by
the FIA standard 8860-2004 or later, or British Standards Institute BS6658-85 type A/FR. Each
driver’s helmet shall be labeled with a minimum of the driver’s name. The use of a head and neck
9. Cars and Equipment restraint system that has been certified in accordance with SFI 38.1 or FIA 8858-2002 or 8858-
2010 is required; an SFI 38.1 or FIA 8858-2002 or 8858-2010 label must be properly affixed to
the device. Accident damaged helmets should be sent by the driver or his or her representative to
the Snell Memorial Foundation, 3628 Madison Ave., North Highland, CA. 95660 (ph.) 916-331-
5073 (attn. Edward B. Becker). Details of the accident should be included. Freon based total loss
helmet cooling systems are not allowed.

There are a bunch of threads here on the subject. Based on my cheap ass experience, SCCA gives you at least 11 years on the Snell year. I personally plan on shopping for a new 2015 Snell helmet when the 2020's go on sale in the next 12 months. Makes the 2015 good until 2026.
If I crash bad enough to really need the incremental 2015 -> 2020 enhancements, well, it probably won't matter that much at my age. I'd be done one way or the other.

should be 2025 or 2026 depending on when the 2025 standard is released

MY experience with SCCA...for what it's worth...is that a Snell SA helmet is good until the next Snell SA comes out (5 years) for PRO racing... and (10 years) for AMATEUR racing.
In other words...
A 2015SA expires for PRO when the 2020SA comes out.
A 2015SA expires for AMATEUR when the 2025SA comes out.
Add ANOTHER 5 years for Midwestern Council (MCSCC).
PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.

Bottom line, Wes, is that SCCA doesn't publish an Expiration date for helmets. Everytime it comes up, there are several "if I remember right" replies. I assume this allows SCCA flexibility if, for some reason, they needed to shorten the allowed limit for helmets.

Bottom line is that earlier FIA 8860-2004 standard is still currently allowed so it's "likely" that you will likely have several more years before they get to removing the 2010 standard helmets.

From the FIA site, it expires 31Dec2020. I don’t know that SCCA absolutely follow FIA but since it is an FIA certification, I would guess it to follow.
