in general, how much combustion chamber volume is lost for every thousandth of head that is removed?

The amount lost would be digressive. Meaning the first .001" removed is going to cause you to lose more volume than the second thousandth.
On a 3.58" bore removing .001" from the head reduces head volume .01006 cubic inches or .164 cc's.
"About" .006" for every cc.
The pinto's combustion chamber shape is sort of kidney shaped, so round doesn't apply at all. I figure someone out there has done the work and has the data readily available.
I don't think it's in the vizard book either.
.010 ~ 1cc/hole
