    Default Rod Rules Change

    Gents;

    I have it in my head that a longer rod is now authorized, making better HP. Can anyone provide me with the link? Also, what is the procedure to do this? Longer rod means something must be removed from somewhere?

    QuickSilver sells the 5.7 rods and spec Wiseco pistons.

    Total length is the same so no block mods needed.

    I do not yet have this combo.

    Lots of discussion here in this group mid-2018 when they were approved.

    Gents;

    SP93235B-4 is the rod part number, but Wiseco did not have a solution for the pistons. Are they proprietary to QS?

    Also, what is the HO increase over the 5.0” rods?

    Correct - Proprietary to QS.

    HP increase undetermined.

    A longer rod can reduce friction at the skirts.

    A longer rod allows the piston to spend more time at TDC and BDC, while accelerating the piston away from those points at a higher velocity.

    A shorter rod can allow for more aggressive timing and weighs less (all else equal).

    A shorter rod also tends to make better power at lower/mid rpms.

    A suspected increase in power for a longer rod in not going to be measurable on the Quicksilver dyno. You would need something like a 1" increase to see any change.

    Yep - all true. But he asked about HP increase. No one has shown before and after dyno results - and if it was significant the CRB wouldn't have passed it.

    Gents;

    Talked to Sandy today, and he explainer the long rod/piston combination provides for better acceleration times, eases year on the piston skirts, and provides longevity for the bottom end. This coupled with the new carb provided an additional 2hp ish.

    $600 for the pistons, $650 for the rods and $650 for the carb.
