    Default Smiths Tach drive

I have a Smiths tach on my 1981 Tiga, and what I assume is the original tach drive which mounts to the front engine cover. Is there a procedure for disassembly for the tach drive for maintenance?

    Thanks,

    Chuck Smith

I sent the photo to Smiths and they said its not theirs so they couldn't help. OK, I assume its a Smiths knockoff then. Removing the cotter pin and the two little brass screws doesn't accomplish anything obvious, any suggestions?

Probably a Pace part. Use a sharp device to separate the bearing retainer (part the screws went through) from the main body. Bearing is under retainer. Pull shaft out of housing bringing bearing with it. Use a new bearing with seals on both sides to reduce chance of oil leak. The other shaft is held in with the plug with the cotter pin.
