Even if free it wouldn't be worth what you'd end up spending in restoration costs, but the 'celebrity' factor might appeal to someone.

It is in a lot better shape than the starting point of the last one I restored.
Probably one of the straightest Reynard's out there.
it actually has a lot of parts that don't spoil over time, especially since its been stored inside.
$8K is too much to start. I could see putting $8K into it.
Engine refresh and upgrade.
New Fuel cell.
New brake systems.
Go through gearbox.
New tach (Stack is too expensive to operate)
New tires.
Probably new rads.
At least 240 hours of labor...
I'd hate to see someone buy it just to get that $5,000 gearbox.
I don't know if Paul raced this car. He was the works Van Deimen driver and his father Tony bought the Reynard as insurance. I was working with John McCracken who started the year in the works Crossle, but parked it and "borrowed" Tony Tracy's Reynard for the rest of the year. I doubt if an ex-McCracken Reynard would have much celebrity value.

Where would one find that welded on reynard vin badge?
And after that Greg, I recall that a GT-3 driver (he previously drove the wickedly quick ex-Kitchen Datsun 1200) by the name of James Ruehl (SP?) bought the Reynard, and ran the next year in the Export A series. James and I were at drivers school together in 1986, and I was really jealous of the Datsun, and more so of the Reynard!!
cheers

Only the first edition '87 Reynards had the welded on chassis number plate.
Later chassis just had number plates riveted to the dash.
The plates on the dash had the red fox logo etc. Harder to duplicate. Easier to move from chassis to chassis.
The welded on plate you could make yourself... just saying.
This car is a real early number because it still has the steel front uprights.
Later they became cast aluminum.
cool, well I guess I can guarantee that this Reynard is a p,tracy chassis.
You seriously need an Apexspeed decal back there.
Seller relisted at $6000 and it looks to have sold.
I was looking at buying but got beaten by the clock...and trying to organise shipment offloading/clearance here in the UK. Would have gone with the ex-Paul Tracy RF86 F2000, which is finally approaching completion of ground-up restoration
Must start looking for another winter project...
