Default Solo Vee wheel and tire combinations.....Advice

I need sone advice on wheel and tire combinations for a Solo Vee. I have been autocrossing one for about 6 years now and am questioning my current wheel/tire set up and would like to have opinions on what other people think the optimum combination might be. I am at this time going to reframe from posting my current setup in order to hear your opinions without any influence. All options are 13 inch diameter and Hoosier R25 compound.
    Option 1 Front 8 inch width 4 inch back space Tire 20 x 7-5 x 13 actual tread 8 inches
    Rear 10 inches width 4 inch backspace Tire 20 x 9 x 13 actual tread 9.75 inches

    Option 2 Front 7 inches width 5 inches backspace Tire 20.5 x 7 x13 actual tread width 6.75 inches
    Rear 10 inches width 4 inches backspace Tire 20 x 9 x13 actual tread width 9,75 inches

    Option 3 Front 7 inches width 5 inches backspace Tire 20,5 x 7 x 13 actual tread width 6.75 inches
    Rear 8 inches width 4 inches backspace Tire 20 x 7.5 x 13 actual tread width 8 inches
Thank you in advance for your input,

Well this is going off my personal experience and talking with Hooiser.

I found that tire temp is big, we here in the Bay Area have 2 different sites to work with, One is generally 90 deg to over 100 deg with track temp 130+ tires get hot and stay hot no co-driver needed. The other site temps are generally 70 deg to 80 deg and track temps stay cool at 85 deg, co-driver needed and this is all on the Formula Ford setup.

I would say that Option 2 is a good option in hot climate areas too get the tire hot enough

but really like Option 3 for over all high performance because you can get the tires to the right temp with one driver and work on setup after that, of course this depends on how much your car weighs which I'm pretty sure weighs less then a FF?

The question I have can you really take advantage of the super wide tires based on Camber limitations the Solo V has or is this wrong? Well thats what I'm thinking.

My thought is that based on the power we are able to apply with a 5.5" rear rim in our Formula F, I find it hard to believe that a Solo Vee has a need for a 10" rear tire and the weight/track width penalties that accompany it.

I don't know all the specs for a Solo Vee but my understanding is it's around the same weight or a little lighter than our FF - if that's the case, I would think a 7-8" front and rear combination would be the most tire you could effectively get hot and utilize.

Almost all current SoloVees run 8" and 10". Some use a 22" diameter on the rear due to gearing. I've thought of using 6" and 8" since I have those wheels.

Would love to see tire temps between the 2 sets of wheel/tire combo?

    Default Thank You

First of all, thank you for your advice and info. I never considered tire temp but is something I need to start monetering. I was only concerned about the backspacing on the front. I am currently running the 8 inch (with 4 inch backspacing) front and 10 inch rear setup. I have always felt the front was a little slow to rrespond to steering input and in sweepers I felt that it was scribing a much bigger arc than it should. My feeling is with the 7 inch wheel that has 5 inch backspace leaving only 2 inches on the outside. I would nearrow the wheelbase and tighten the turning circle. So I think I am going to order a new set of wheels.
As for the car itself it only weighs 835 lbs and dynoed 100 hp and 120 fl lbs of torque at the rear wheels. So it is pretty close to a FF with the FF having a bit more hp and a much more sophisticated suspension.
    Thank you all again
