    Default Rod Identification??

I pulling the oil pan off an older 2.0 this weekend as a pre purchase inspection.
I told the seller the price I pay for the engine depends on the rods and Pistons in the engine.

    The queston is:
When only pulling the oil pan is there a simple way to Identify which brand rods are in an engine? I know Orignal Ford are easy but how do I tell if they are Oliver, Crower or Carillo or...?

From what I'm told the engine is a 2005 vintage built by Charlie Williams for a DB-5 sports racer run By Keith Williams.

    Thanks in Advance

    Geoff

First, if Williams was the last person in the engine, I believe there would be no reason to check.

    Crower SP93230B-4 or SP93230PF-4

70HM-8205-8-A, 048 +/- 4.98” (stock Ford cast junk) probably not in use

Rod p/n M-6200-C200 is permitted Oliver

    Old forged stock rods: 70HM-6205-B-A
knot sticks out side of pin end “+8BA”
    “F” on side of casting
I was told they are only good for about 2,000 miles.

There were some "Cosworth" rods as well correct? I don't think they were marked as such - I believe they just carry the ford logo.

    Default the verdict

I'll try to post some pictures tonight, I have the pan off and it appears that the rods are Forged Ford units (no clue as to hours on them) and the only numbers I can see on the pistons are (85MM and F20) on the exhaust side of the pistons.(I'm thinking they are the ford Mahle units)

It is a 202 block, with a swift oil pan and pump set up so alot would have to be done to get it set up for my VD.

I'm thinking I'll pass on this one-

I was trying to identify some rods I have to determine if they are usable.
These appear to be the forged stock rods.

    Attachment 86715

not sure of they are usable for anyone.
