Default where do you buy these?

Been through Pegasus, Grainger, and M-Carr...

At first glance people say it's an isolator mount, but a much closer analogy is it's more like a rubber rivnut or a threaded grommet
The threaded insert runs all the way thru, and the large shoulder sitting against a panel allows the cylinder to expand when a bolt is pulled up.
    Thoughts?
    Thx

It's called a Well nut I believe. Lowes, Home Hardware and Home Depot have them in Canada. They are made by the Hillman Group.

David is correct - I purchased some from McMaster-Carr a few months back to replace the ones Van Diemen used to mount the ignition switch panel in my FEs.

    Here's the link: https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/125/3427

What size do you need? I needed 4 10-32 and had to buy 10 from McMaster. I have 6 left...

I'll be in Savannah on 4/1. I'll trade hand delivered well-nuts for .

It must've been painful forking over all that cash, but I guess they have you over a barrel. :-)

JK. Funnily enough, after seeing this thread I ordered 10 from them, too, for the four holes I've drilled for them. I'm sure I'll use them all at some point. I like the idea of a cushioned rivet nut.

Also, I was curious what brings you to Savannah on 4/1. I don't see any car activity at Roebling Road. But, I guess that's not the only reason to go to Savannah. :-)

College touring. My son wants to go to an art school, so we're doing the right coast campus tour during spring break. Savannah and SCAD on Monday then headed up to NYC for the rest of the week. The bright side of business travel; trailer loads of free flights and hotel rooms.

BTW, what to do in Savannah when we're done with school tour? My son's a gear head too.

Having looked into it recently, be aware that SCAD tuition will instantly deplete most people's race budgets

    Ian,

Didn't mean to hijack your thread.

We are aware of SCAD's entry fees (another for those), there are some scholarship $$ to help a little. More importantly, for me anyway, the tuition budgets and my racing budget are mostly separate.

He's a photographer and SF academy of arts doesn't really offer anything useful down that path. I'm pushing for him to go to SF state where it's a quarter of the tuition and he's already been admitted.

I'm just hoping that after 4 or so years he can get a real income producing job in his chosen field. Ironically, he is already a Coffee Master barista at Starbucks so he wouldn't need a masters or PhD to do that job.

LOL, no worries about the hijack, I long ago got my answer and have the parts I needed in hand as we speak. Enjoy your visit here, it’s a cool city.

We go to Savannah as often as we can. Maybe the thing we look forward to the most is long walks through the MANY street parks.

I'm not sure if this would be worthwhile but a couple of years ago we stayed on Hutchinson Island (right across the river from River Street) and enjoyed taking the (free?) ferry back and forth. We were running a car club event on the old race track there, but I can't really say it is impressive. It's basically a road around a golf course. Mostly 90 degree turns but one long banked turn. My wife and I rode bikes (provided by the Weston) around the island (flat and easy).

Roebling Road Raceway might be worth the drive. There may be motorcycles on track that weekend. You can only see the long main straight from the driveway but would need to go inside the track to see anything more. If you go inside the track you'll have to wait until session ends to leave. They don't have a bridge over the track.

    TeamFRD,
Check McMaster-Carr for vibration-damping sandwich mounts, or Pegasus for rubber vibration mounts.
