    Default Telemetry for AIM, Motec

Has anyone tried this product from AutoSportLab ?

    https://www.autosportlabs.com/produc...ems-to-podium/

Their data systems transmit over cell service. This is an add-on for AIM and Motec to do the same.

The first thing I noticed is the free cell service they quote is no longer 500/mb but 200/mb.

    But interesting if it works.

I have one, but haven't used it. I'll sell it to you

RIght now they don't have a way to make the data private, so it's no use to me working for teams. They are supposed to roll out a subscription service for it that would make private a paid option, but it hasn't happened yet.

Lots of endurance teams (AER, Lemons, Chumpcar) use them.

    Default hmmm

That they have added the Race Technology TM piques my interest.
Live stream video and we're in the F1 data capture realm!

    Cheers - Jim

Yikes - they never mention that ! Would seem to be one of the first requirements when spec'ing a system like that!

If they get that done, then $500 for telemetry isn't all that bad....

While it is possible to intercept the cell signal, lets' talk about probability. You have to have the equipment, smarts to use it, then you have to not only have the time to analyze your data, but the intercepted signal as well. At that point, you'd be spending enough to just do more testing. And for what, an amateur championship?

It's NOT the cell that is the issue. The data is streamed to a website called Podium.Live and ANYONE has access to it..

Quote from the site: "Podium shows off your racing to your friends in real time. Just plug in a compatible device and hit the track."

Yeah. I made the assumption from the start that it would be private. Since that Podium site (https://podium.live/) is a feature they built into their other products it seems to be targeted at track day/lemons type racers.

    Interesting though.

I notice RaceTechnology has their own solution for their product, RT Live... not clearly stated, but I'd assume (based on credentialed login to their cloud) that it's not public. Cool stuff, but for $725USD it's a little costly for the luxury. Though I'll admit that, if I can't get radios to work (jury's still out on that one), the messaging to dash option (along with crew monitoring data) goes a long way towards justifying the cost...

Looks like you can use their website to access live data too, which should mean no need to lug along extra laptop to the pits, just so long as your cellphone can get a signal...
