Are there many Regions running CFF these days - or is it an almost dead class nowadays? I'm asking about the midwest and eastern states.

Many CF's running in the North East (regional events.) Normally as many CF as FF. Sometimes more, because the FF guys tend to be split between Nationals and Regionals. Check out SCCA region websites for race results and you will get a flavor by region

In NEDiv, CF is alive and well in the New England Region, but suffering from poor attendance in the southern and western parts of the Division. Some statistics for NEDiv are available:

The East-West Challenge (EWC)in CENDiv and the New England Challenge (NEC) starting in NEDiv in 2003 are attempting to address this. The EWC has been quite successful in drawing large FF/CF fields to their designated races; we are hoping that the NEC will do the same in NEDiv.
Club Ford [CF] is alive and well in the southeastern division of the SCCA - Fla Ga SC NC Virg, etc. Some step up to FF for Nationals but it is rare for the solo Fords to show up in club racing and vice versa
I cannot recall a regional race at Summit Point where we had more FFs than CFs.

Cen-Div generally has a strong turn out of club fords and they are included in the CEN-DIV Regional championship series (check CEN-DIV web site for details). Come on out we would love to have you involved in the CEN-DIV races and try to make it into the East-West Challenge (EWC) where you will see 30 car FF/CFF race fields.
