Default What is this poly tipped set screw????

I was just doing some minor clean up when I noticed the area under the oil filter/fuel pump/starter/etc (Pinto) was sorta oily. Wiping I brushed up this funny set screw. It’s oily (but that may just be from the oil in the area or...) any ideas??? It has a plastic/poly tip if some sort. Very small. 0.38” long by 0.23” wide.

I've seen those used on spring perches to prevent damage to the threads on the shock. I would look there...

That very well could be it. I have new Penskes... although I was hoping it would explain the slight oilyness under the engine... the slightest of oil leaks drives me nuts!

Agree - that's what it is. They're used to prevent the perch from rotating in use or while unloaded.
