    Default Lynx B FV

    SOLD

This Lynx is located in southern California near Los Angeles, NOT in Pine Grove which is in northern California. Arrangements can be made to transport the car up to Nor Cal is need be.

This one will be a great project for someone who wants to get into open wheel vintage racing at a reasonable cost and who wants the experience of pulling a good car together with their own hands.

This Lynx B Formula Vee project is all there, ready to be assembled.

... It is NOT ready to race by any means, but it IS ready to be put back on its wheels and into racing shape.

Lynx B’s are considered by many as very good vintage Vee racing machines, and, as near as I can figure, they aren’t building any more of them.

... The project was to be something of retirement project for myself and my brother (he was a aircraft-quality fabricator and former professional racing mechanic) but I lost steam after his passing nearly two years ago.

This particular Lynx was converted to zero roll configuration by a previous owner, but can easily be built in the original standard coil-over shocks and Z-bar suspension style.

As almost everyone knows by now, Formula Vee is one of the most popular divisions in road racing. (Relatively) inexpensive, Vees provide a great formula car (single-seat, open wheel) racing experience on a moderate budget.

We don’t have much history on this car, my brother and I bought from an advert in “The Samba” it from a guy who had got it in some sort of payment for a debt that was owed him ... as of this date he is still looking for the log book, we’ve not giving up hope as yet, but ... We do know that it raced in the DC Region (Washington) and that one of the sponsors that we called (Automotive Specialist Center in remembered the car well.

The car is complete but we never tried starting the engine out of an abundance of caution because the car had sat idle for some time, our friends at W&R Racing in Monrovia did fire it up at their shop floor and said that it was “pretty good” but would benefit from a tear-down and some new rings.

The chassis has been gone through at MTE Engineering and a new steel floor pan has been readied but needs to be attached

This car (besides being converted to zero roll) was also run in “fanless” configuration, so we do not have a fan, shroud, or generator for it. And the bodywork needs a bit of TLC as well. There a pair of spare nose pieces in the inventory ... the “before” garage shot of the car shows a pretty damaged nose in the correct colors.

We disassembled it (we have a good set of photos of that process) and (of course) we have all of the components and fasteners. The car also came with a pit/lift jack and a few spares brake parts.

Again, this car is a “kit”... however it has “good bones” and is ready to become an open wheel racing hero again in the right hands.

If desired it can be delivered or shipped it for cost.
