Wanted To Buy MK 9 and clutch questions

Long story/long project on my Lola T-440. A former owner tried to covert it to FC ( 2 liter). The input shaft is a 1" X 23. We're trying to figure out the clutch. We would like to find a used 7/8" X 20 input shaft so we can keep the original configuration. Otherwise, we'll have to buy an expensive Tilton clutch plate.

    Default clutch

If you think the clutch plate is expensive, wait until you get the price for an input shaft.

Buy thte clutch plate. Much cheaper than an input shaft. And lots easier to install.

I will check my inventory of good used ones and post if I find one that I would sell

Had a Fc car with the 1" input shaft for years and my latest is a FF converted to FC so I have no use for all the 1" discs.

Nor sure it is really the right input shaft. Be absolutely sure before buying it.

Isn't the input shaft for the t440 extra long due to the spacer between motor and gearbox?

    Believe you're right on 440...

just wanted to let others know about part...figured tacking onto this thread, quickest/easiest to do that...(not a "super seller", no way to post as for sale, besides isn't mine to sell...recall an earlier thread about SV driven plates/splines and MK 9s, too......)

Hope comment wasn't misleading.... reason I mentioned no dia or length...

The extra long input shaft is correct for the 440, except that we have moved the engine back. So we are dealing with a standard set up.

Wow that is a long way to move the eng judging by this pic off the web of a t440 and the spacing between the eng and g/box to move the weight forward.

By most accounts, the T-440 experiment was a failure. The car's handling was not all it was cracked up to be. (Maybe "cracked up" is a poor choice of words!) Many owners have decided to modify the car. It does free up the area behind the firewall bulkhead, but the tail no longer fits. We also have the challenge of purchasing a car that was in the middle of a transition to FC, (including the 2 liter motor). The fellow who was carrying this out passed away, and his son left the car under a tarp, outdoors, for several years. Despite all that, we are making progress, and will have a car o be proud of, I am sure.

    Tom ,
Way less expensive for the disc. You need a 64-185-2-A-30
We have them around $80/85 ,

When I had my Citation, I converted it from a FC to a FF and still used the same input shaft. The input into the crankshafts is the same, so my FF used the 1" shaft. No big deal.
