Default Mounting Smart Phone: experiences and/or rules?

With apps like Harry's Lap Timer and Race Monitor, I'm considering mounting my phone in the cockpit. Anyone do this and have suggestions? What works?

Also, are there rules about it (I haven't found any) or anyone have scrutineer "feedback"?

    Thx

Here is what I did in my FE. I also have a velcro strap that goes around the middle and cinches tight. I was going to use Harry's Lap Timer until I figured out a dedicated telemetry system. I am not sure on the rules and scrutineering, and would like to know as well.

track addict or speedfreq work better IMO .

I'm no scrutineer, but if you used a mount as pictured and then put a zip tie around it as a secondary just in case, I'd let it pass.

I used the Ram Mount X-Grip in my track car, plus the rubber-band-like thingy that wraps around the corners to make it extra secure. Works well. All parts are very high quality.

They have many different parts/systems for cars, boats, planes, motorcycles, etc. Figuring out what to order is the hardest part.

For your formula car, you might want to look at the motorcycle mounts that bolt around metal tubes of various diameters.

Make sure you can still reach the touch-screen when you're strapped in. Maybe mount it on your steering wheel?

You have a preference for one?
