Default New tires needed - suggestions and input

I am ready to get some new tires for a new car I recently acquired. So it has been run with Hoosiers by the last owner and I am looking for input by everyone regarding a comparison between the Avons, Hoosiers and Goodyears.

Cost is not the issue, performance and longevity are, BUT I am initially planning on probably one new set a year but will only run probably 6 events a year. Chassis is a Ralt RT4.

Hoosier offers two compounds, the R25 and the R35, with the 25 a softer tire.

OK let's hear from everyone! Any and all comments appreciated.

Even in vintage, you should budget for two sets of any of those, but my money would be on Avons in A-11 for your environment and that desired level of longevity.

    Default tires

Avons are your best bet, a little more expensive but last longer with less drop off

Not sure if it is a consideration for you, but here in the southeast we always have the Hoosier guys at the track for support.

Very little trackside support in the Southwest for vintage events. You're pretty good at Buttonwillow and Willow Springs since there are permanent track shops there, but Cal Speedway, Pahrump, Vegas, Chuckwalla, usually no support. Hoosier comes out for SVRA at CS I believe due to the turnout and they are a "partner".

Lee, what part of california are you from?

I would suggest you give Roger Kraus a call. they are west coast distributors for Avons, Hoosiers, etc... very knowledgeable and they can definitely get you setup.

OK thanks everyone for your input. I decided to go with Hoosiers, R35 compound. We will see how they work and then maybe try Avons next time.
