    Default 2mm restrictor

Does anyone understand why there is a 2mm restrictor the fits in the cam cover breather? My front crank seal has started leaking after a couple of events, and I am suspicious of crankcase preassure.

I emailed Honda but haven't heard anything back yet.

Anyone else have any advice? Anyone opt not to run that restrictor?

    Default Flow restriction ?

Never attempted running without the restrictor in the back of the valve cover. Not sure what the rule book says about being allowed to eliminate it. I think we are supposed to run the entire kit as supplied by honda.

My guess is that they intend to restrict flow with the orifice and keep the pressure in the valve area above that of the crankcase??

Crankcase should be at partial vacuum due to scavenge rotors and have you tried to confirm that scavenge system is doing its job and moving the oil out of the crankcase?

After some more research, I bet that I just derped the seal when installing the pulley. I suspect that restrictor is supposed to prevent oil from being sucked up from the sump and into the valve cover at times. I forgot how much volume that scavenge pump can move.

I seem to recall the early oil pans (shouldn't apply to you) had the wrong radius cut into them for the crank seal. The directions said use a thick bead of RTV...

Yes, I can confirm. Mine had a huge gap. I think they ended up sending me another. This was a few years ago.
