    Default A/C SV Engine Question

Building an engine for a client and have a compression ratio question: As delivered, the off-the-shelf JE pistons computed to over 14:1 ratio. I've since cut the top of one ~.120" and arrived at what I think is a livable ratio of 12.07:1 and a deck height of .041".
    Any thoughts?

I ran 14:1 many years using the original Mahle SV pistons and 100 LL gas. never had a problem.

measured CR by bringing piston to TDC filling chamber with alcohol with a bruette and doing the math.

You should be in fine shape at 12:1.

Remember to get Carrillo rods or similar. The VW rods always broke under the bolt head on the cap. One enterprising Runoffs winner made a great set of rods by sawing the beam off a set of rods and making caps out of them before Carrillo's were legal.

This makes it pretty easy to figure compression ratio if you have all of the numbers: https://www.summitracing.com/experta...ion-calculator
