    Default Transponder needed

Hey everyone, my latest formula car project is nearing completion and I am in need of a transponder. Anyone have one out there that they are interested in parting with for a reasonable amount?

    Thanks,

    Lee

Lee, have you shopped for new or used transponders since AMB changed the industry two years ago? BIG changes. ALL new transponders are now sold requiring a subscription service, one/three/five year subscriptions available on top of the (now cheaper) transponder initial price. The old style non-subscription transponders still work "for now" and have doubled in market price once the new system went into effect, to basically the same price as a new one. I went through this last year, and ended up just swapping my one old-style transponder back and forth between my two cars.

Yeah, I was hoping to be able to just pick up an old one, but since I don't have one at all, I can't do it the way you are. Guess I will bite the bullet and get the new version.

Can you rent one at each event? Our race org has several for rent at reasonable prices ($30~35 per weekend)

You should be able to rent for a while until you can pick one up at a decent price. That's what I did.

You also may want to check with the tracks you plan on attending and see where their timing loop is. The loop at my track is not at the fastest portion of the track and one of the cheaper MX or 160 Karting transponder should work. I haven't verified that the 'slower' transponder will be read by the equipment but it should
