    Default Staffs box material

Is the bearing carrier on a Staffs box as used on an 86 Citation FF aluminum or mag. Have a stud on the rear cover that pulled out helicoil and all and thee is not enough meat left to put a bigger rhelicoun in and no room for a nut on the back side (it is the one directly below the linkage.

Thinking of tigging it up and retapping.

Any special precautions to take to keep electrons from jumping across bearings and doing damage that should be taken?

The mag boxes all have the black Dow coating, and all pre-94 Citations had mag boxes ( they had not come out with the alu box as yet). The alu boxes are all regular aluminium color.

If I remember correctly, I've nutted that stud on a couple boxes, but hat to modify the shifter tube to get the needed clearance.

This one already has a nut on the stud by the shifter tube.

The one I need to nut is too close to the "sidewall" of the bearing carrier to get a nut on it. And there is also a set screw in the way.

Thanks for the information Richard. It most definitely is the black finished mag and not natural aluminum.
