    Default 88 Swift SE-3

For Sale is a recently refurbished 1988 Swift SE-3. The car was owned by the late John McCalister. A racing enthusiast well known in the southwest. Before him the car had a very successful career. We purchased the car at John's estate sale and wanted to bring it back to its glory.

It was refurbished for only one reason and that was to make it the way it was just because. All the parts were cleaned painted, coated, rebuilt etc. The transmission and shocks were rebuilt. The engine was cosmetically cleaned and painted but was not rebuilt. It does run but we are not aware of the amount of time on the engine. The brake calipers have new seals and new coating, uprights are rebuilt with new bearings. The dash is new and the gauges were either replaced or polished if possible. All of the aluminum panels for the firewall and fuel cell were redone. The chassis was stripped and painted and all of the body panels were fixed and painted.

The car has a lot of spares but they have all lived in a trailer for many many years. It appears we have spare suspension arms for each corner, we have rear uprights for both sides, and one front upright. Complete spare body work. Jig for the nose to make more if needed. Spare wing elements. We are also selling two additional sets of wheels one matching the ones on the car and a set of yellow wheels (Mag brand I believe). They can be seen in the photos some match the wheels on the car and the rest are the mag wheels common to the swifts. There is a good amount spare bits for the gearbox, engine, carbs, etc. We will also include the 4 gears in the car and at least 8 additional gears. I will work on compiling the ratios.

This car would make an excellent CFC as is or would make a great FF with a conversion. Asking $15,000 for the car and all of its bits.

Looks like a very nice car! Good luck on the sale (which should be later this evening judging by the price vs. quality of build)

Hell of a deal, even if one had to refresh the engine.
    Great job on the rebuild.
Most newbies don't understand the value of all that work and that extensive spares package.
These cars can be super competitive in CFC.

I fully expected to wake up this morning to find this car sold. :-)

It really looks great. Hard to imagine anyone not being proud to own and race this car. Tempting price.

Last pic with uprights; are those FV rockers to the r. of the uprights? If so I may know a guy that could use them as spares.

I've got an 88 SE1, this is a very nicely done car, whoever gets it will have fun. If they want to part with any spares, let me know.

Anyone know of the intent behind the outboard steering arm location change seen below? Appears to have moved it out and back.

    Default Swift SE-3 steering

I believe it was to correct a change in Ackerman due to wheelbase change from European to US spec.

I have had a lot of questions regarding the engine. Went ahead and spent some time checking everything and going through it. Reset all the valves and fired it up. Set the timing and the engine sounds very strong. Before I fired it I did a leak down and compression check. I plan to re-test both of these in the morning now that everything has been re-seated. None of the cylinders head a leak down % greater then 12. Here is the compression readings: 143, 130, 140, 150. I will post the second test tomorrow.

Do you happen to have a spare bare dash that you want to sell?

No we don't have any blank dashes. We are transporting another race car to Willow Springs, California on the 21st if anyone is interested in this car from California or anywhere between New Mexico and there it would be a simple task to get it to you.

Split up the package slightly and we will now be selling some of the wheels and spare engine separate. This car is ready to hit the track as CFC or FC and the engine is in sound condition. New belts and new hosiers tires. The tires were bought in mid 2015 and are in like new condition having never been driven on. Selling this package with two sets of spare wheels and no engine for 13k.

I got to believe if this car was East of the river it would have sold days ago.

Another thread is talking about creating affordable race cars around $20K; here's an affordable, fast, sexy race car for under $14K!.

Going to sell the wheels separately also working on taking a better inventory and therefore photos of the spares. Will work on that and post in the next week or two. I will also be posting which gears will come with the car. The car will have the wheels that are on it and two sets that are identical. I have attached those photos here.

Have had a few inquiries and I do apologize for how unresponsive I have been. This has not made it high on my priority list as I am not all that motivated to sell it. Its out of the way and I have had more projects than I know what to do with. Here is a list of the spares as well as the gears which will be included. The car is still as it was initially pictured. We did perform a leak down on the engine which turned out very good. I also robbed the fiberglass seat and put it in my DB6.

    Spares:
    Nose cone (painted red currently)
    Nose cone mold
    2 sets of wheels
    1 spare wing element
    1 Rear Rocker
    1 Rear lower arm
    3 Lower front arms
    3 Upper Rockers
    1 Front upright
    2 Rear uprights
    1 input shaft
Cam Shaft, Lifters, and various other engine and carb parts

    Gears
    17/34 In Car
    19/31 In Car
    20/30
    21/30
    22/29 In Car
