Default Herm Johnson - FSV and Indy racer

I saw on another racing website that Herm Johnson, FSV racer and two-time Indy 500 starter in the '70's and '80's, passed away earlier today. I hesitated to post anything here but, since I hadn't seen anything appear, I didn't want to let the passing of this wonderful driver and all-around good guy go unnoticed.

Herm did my helmets when I was doing Indy Lights. Just a class guy, such a shame gone so soon. RIP Herm.

Raced and laughed and played with him in Supervees. Herm was a good guy, fun to be around, and like many, he suffered much in this life and yet cared just as much about others. Rest In Peace friend, you've earned it!

Default Herm J 1976 Runoffs Pix

Found these two images stuffed away in a photo album. As I recall he drove quite the race in less than ideal conditions. Was my 1st Runoffs and have only missed one since...

Here is a picture I took of Herm, circa 1976. Last IMSA Super Vee race. RIP Herm.

This was posted by a local club member Stephan Anderson from Eau Claire, WI

"Herm Johnson's race tapes he gave me a hand full of years ago. I decided to upload them after his passing.
