    Default Need Pectel T2 ECU serviced

    Looking for a lead on someone with capability to
    service or replace Pectel T2 ECU's internal battery.
    any info appreciated.

    The T2 is no longer being supported or serviced by Cosworth. Not sure you can do anything with it. The replacement ECU being used in the Zetec is the Performance Electronics PE3

    FYI.
    There must be thousands of T2 and T6 units in circulation in US alone.
    I would find hard to believe that vintage community don't have anyone to map and service them.....

    If there is a person who can service and repair T2's, I'd like to know about it.

    FRP (and some of our teams) spent untold time and money in efforts to match the PE3 to the T2 because we have been told the T2 is completely timed out and not supported anymore. Cosworth will not service them. This is not the case with the T6 or Sigma if my information is correct. (I wouldn't say thousands of T2's but certainly more than 100)

    I think there was but the prices were way out there. And the repair did not have a warranty. Several problems exist with repairing the unit. One I believe it is 8bit bus and that was standard on original IBM pc. The parts like chips are no longer available.
    The programing software was done using Microsoft programing tools and that version has not been available in 20 years.
    The interface program runs in DOS and likes computers with Windows XP or earlier.
    So which major issue do you fix first

    There are race shops in England that support and service T2 and T6 .
    and spring mountain motorsports have Powertec shop from UK that does all their engine and electrics work
    and earlier Radicals run Pectel ECU's.

    I also have a Pectel T2 in my WSR. I recently spent a bunch of time trying to find a repair shop or a replacement T2. No luck either direction. So.... f you find somebody please post it.

    If it just the battery and it is soldered in any competent electronics shop should be able to fix it.

    Try Kevin MacDonald, Mac's Performance in San Fernando, CA

    I bought my WSR from him, and he showed me the old DOS computer he used to map the ECU. But that was a couple of years ago.

    As for fixing the internals, I'm not sure.

    I have the toyota branded software for mapping the ECU if anyone wants a copy. I run it on an old Win98 laptop. If anyone wants a copy let me know. I was able to cure my cars loss of mind by reloading the map.

    I sent my pectel T2 to Julian Godfrey in GB.
    Will let you know how it goes - so far communication has been poor.

    Both of these guys have good reputation and experience.
    Mine went to Tony because he is personal acquaintance of my UK parts guy.
    Also he was first to give full quote and assure weeks turn around.

    That battery is easily replaced, it's a common size you can get from Digi-key. PM me if you need some help.

    They are terrible communicators - they rereplaced my battery without asking despite the fact that I told them it had already been replaced, and now they just forgot to send it back for a week and a half while Andy Lambert "was away".

    It is apparent that Andy does not do the work hiomself but sends it elsewhere.

    Tony did all work i asked him and send me pectel software in CD for free as bonus.
    3 week turnaround.

    Just back from a rough weekend at Sebring with my WSR. Trying to debug my problem. I think it might be in the ecu. When you say "Toyota branded software" I am thinking you are referring to the WSR running the T2 ECU's.

    Will shoot you a PM would love a copy of that software.

    Default WSR wiring loom troubles

    I have sent email to Miguel. The issue, at least with my WSR that exhibited similar symptoms, was a break down in the loom that caused high frequency signals to mix ( fuel injectors, coil drivers, and timing pickup).
    It is very hard to find as the wires ohm out correctly.
