Last weekend @ NHIS, we managed to stay ahead of the FC field but of course can't compete with a true FA. It will become tiring for the FSCCA driver to place in the top three FSCCA yet not in the top three FA and therefore, no points, trophies, etc. I understand the reasoning behind placing the car in FA (and agree with it) yet it will be at least one more year (most likely two) before car counts can justify our own class. The pro series is an attempt to solve the situation but I'm a little (alot) reluctant to travelling great distances with a car that we're still trying to sort the "bugs" out.

I think regional CSR's should "sponsor" a series within a series. Other classes have done so. There wouldn't be any official SCCA involvement and there doesn't need to be any purses. Hell, we all race for trophies now anyways but it would provide some incentive to do a series and push ourselves. For example, in the Northeast, "Motion Dynamics or Hagermann (or others or they could team up) Presents the FSCCA Northeast Road Racing Championship". The series should include both National and Regional races since there're probably a number of drivers who can't get a national license until the following year when they have a few races under their belts. Results and points could be kept on the CSR's website. A schedule could be posted in the region's local newsletter & website. Sounds like good marketing for the CSR's (they do compete against each other), good fun for us FSCCA drivers. The only expense would be trophies and the time to post points. I'll even start by offering $300 towards the cost of the trophies to a Northeast CSR for next season.

I think that's a great idea. We should also start talking to Mazda for contingencies and that the car be recognized in their payout program.

For the time being, did you guys know that while you are racing these cars in FA you are still eligible for Mazda money at nationals? $400 for a win and paying to third.

Sounds like a good idea. I will be out racing in the NER in 2004, if everything goes as planned.
