    Paul,

If this was on the pole for 99', is it Bill Noble's old car?

Dave is correct, this was Dustin Hodges car.

It was driven quite extensively by Don Schanche during the Pro-Vee series years. I've been told that it was run out of Noble's shop during that time, but I don't know that for a fact.

    Default Dustin's car

Yes this is Dustin's pole winning car. We bought it from Bill Noble after running Dustins first year in a Caracal C. Don Schanche did spend some time in the car prior to us buying it.

That qualifying track record has only recently been broken (on the club track with the chicane after turn 1...mid ohio).

Unfortunately it rained for the race and he had only raced in the rain once...in drivers school 2 years earlier. He spun out in turn 7 on lap two (end of back straight) and learned a bit about racing in the rain coming from dead last (I think) to 9th.

We sold the car to put him in an FC the next year (pole again by the way....yeah proud dad here).

Caracals can be as fast as any car in FV.....and this seems like a good buy to me. If I wasn't up to my eyeballs building F1000 cars, I might think seriously of buying it back.

    Default lay back roll hoop

The early D's were a more lay down car with the very low layed back roll hoop. Many were changed to a more upright driver position and taller roll hoop (as this one is) and the body work also evolved to the one seen here.

Several C's were also converted to D's using the later bodywork. Properly done it is hard to tell the difference. The frame rails had to be narrowed at the front (among other things).

Mr Noble drove several D's (and C's) over his long successful career. He actually did some aero investigaton of a couple Vees in a wind tunnel at Kansas State I have the video somewhere. He was a great help to us and I am forever grateful.
