Default For Sale: 2007 Stohr F1000

For Sale: 2007 Stohr F1000 FB Class Race Car, Chassis #017

    Delivered in September 2007

Participated in only 9 races in 2008 and 5 in 2009 and was professionally prepared, setup , trackside supported and maintained. It was the 2009 SCCA SOWDIV F1000 FB Class Regional Championship Winning Car and held track records at the time. It went into storage in early 2010 in complete race worthy condition when my son suspended racing. A potential buyer can designate whomever they desire to inspect the car at its storage location in Houston, TX.

This is a great opportunity for someone to enter into the FB class, or expand their team car count, at a fraction of the price of a new or almost new chassis.

Car features beyond its Standard Equipment:

    New chain (1 race)

Stohr Ram air box intake with K&N filter
2 sets of BBS 1-piece Cast Magnesium Racing Wheels (8x13 front, 10x13 rear) with 1 set mounted with Hoosier R35A compound racing slick tires
1 set of BBS center lock 3-piece Aluminum Racing Wheels (8x13 front, 10x13 rear), mounted with a set of Hoosier wet compound race tires

    FINALLY!!!!!

    A properly priced car.

I couldn't thank you enough for selling the car without the inflated mindset that these cars appreciate better than gold itself!

Hopefully more will follow and all of our classes can grow instead of being killed due to $70,000 Formula Ford's...

    Good luck with the sale!

I'm interested in the car. Any interest in a partial trade for a complete Spec Miata set up?

I remember when this car was being built by 10/Tenths, the Vogeley brothers. They built my car too #19. Nice car for a great price! I still love the look and durability of the Gen 1 body style.

A properly priced car? Really? Anyone who thinks a decent ready to race F1000 is "properly priced" at $20,000 is ridiculous. To say this is the proper price range is an insult to anyone who has built one of these cars. I'm sorry, but you are clueless.

Now, if you said $20,000 is a "steal" or a hell of a good deal, that would have been a little more like it...

Agreed, I'm not sure why anybody would expect proper race cars should be required to be in price point anybody could afford.

I must be crazy as I'm turning gears in my head figuring how I could add this car to the garage as we speak and I just bought an FE...

Brett, I've called two of our friends in Florida hoping they buy it. The Fast Finn also called one guy in S. Florida. None are in FB currently but good drivers. Too good a deal to pass up.

Default YEP, distance is just a bit too far for me...

This would be a fantastic T-car/Spare for any current Stohr owner as well.

Unfortunately, for me, the wife would not approve..

Yeah, Someone down here step up to the plate... When I posted my car, not one offer- and $35k with all the spares(including an engine) is a fair, not a "proper" price.

    Hey Hartley! Where are you!!!

Default I hope I'm wrong, but....

Can anyone confirm this is a real seller with a real car? Sorry to be a debbie downer, but it's been over a month since this "to good to be true" price was posted on HoustonF1000's very first post on ApexSpeed, with not a single follow up posting. Can anyone confirm this is legit?

There is clearly a lot of interest out there for F1000 class race cars. Before the houstonf1000 Stohr was sold, there were 20 inquiries from around the US and overseas. All of the potential buyers were able to contact the seller with no difficulty.

The car was race worthy when put into storage and was never portrayed as currently race worthy. The competitiveness of the car will be determined by the technical skill of the purchaser and the amount of money he will want to invest in it.

In the marketplace the trick is to match up cars in various degrees of generational technology and running ability with potential owners who have varying degrees of technical expertise and the funds available to produce the level of race competency they desire.

The choices are to pay less for a car that needs technical skill or money to reach a desired level of race competency, or pay more for a more current car that already is set up to meet your racing desires.

This is no different from buying any used car. You get what you pay for and modify it up to the degree you want to.

    Default Houston 2007 F1000 Stohr

For folks asking if it is still available or was it super cheap, and also agreeing with a very astute comment made....... "there are cars for every type of buyer". We are currently rebuilding the car. Engine is out, and will be gone through replacing valve springs etc etc etc. Fuel cell removed and replaced with new unit.....sounds easy, but foam has to be modified, in tank pump replaced, all internal hoses, regulator, inline fuel filter, external hoses replaced. All master cylinders removed and replaced, new calipers installed, exhaust removed and bead blasted (may need to be replaced), and the work is far from complete at this stage. When a race car doesn't run in 4-5 years it is never good and frankly dangerous not to go through everything. A cheap car sounds exciting, but we are spending plenty of money to bring this one back to a proper race worthy condition. This car would not have been a good fit for many people...it had to go to someone prepared to do the work, or someone prepared to pay to have it done. Paying to have this work done, would make this car exactly the same price as a good race ready F1000 on today's market. So, this car has not diminished the value of other cars, and I can assure everyone it will never be priced anywhere near what I bought it for!
