    Default 7 x 20 or 8.5 x 18

Shopping for another trailer-if you had to pick, which would you choose. My tow capacity is capped at 5K, and I am leaning toward the 7' x 20 so that I have more floor space ahead of the car. My first instinct was the 8.5 x 18 to have more side room and " room for for growth" if I ever went to a small fender car or SR, but that is probably wasted space as I am trying to avoid having to unload stuff get get the car out.

if you can live with 7' width, you'll get better gas mileage towing.
V-nose generally thought to be even better than flat front as well.

Go with the narrowest width that the car will fit between the fender wells.

Less wasted room and as pointed out narrower means not punching such a big hole in the air.

8.5' x 18 is big enough to haul full size cars like corvette, Porsche, etc.
if the car will fit in 7', then you can use the space towards the top along the sides of an 8.5' to hang stuff that you won't have to move to get the car out.

at the end of the day, it's much easier to sell the 8.5' wide trailer later.

If you ever thought about going FA, you will need the 8.5 width. I had a nice 7' trailer and my car would not go in even with the wheels off.
God is my pilot, I'm just the loose nut behind the wheel !

Thanks guys. I realized that the 8.5 would have the worst cd due to the frontal area, but it gets even worse has besides being wider, they are also a little taller. I will prob end up with the 7.

On another note, the workmanship really sucks nowadays. I looked at 2 brands; both made in GA. as soon as I opened the ramp door, I saw dropped screws left behind; now jammed in crevices, small stacks of unused staples, and some massive paint runs.

rednecks in GA sure do build some cheap trailers! I had them put E-track down on the floor and gave them a center to center measurement which they screwed up and put down as the inside to inside width. Drove 5 hours to pick it up and discovered the mistake since I was at least smart enough to take a tape measure up there with me. They compensated well though, dropped $800 off and gave me 30' of E-track. I rebuilt the floor myself later.

    trailer has served me well.

    I have ATC 7,5x19 x6,5. V nose.
    Fully aluminum total weight 2550LBS.
Comes with the price ,but quality and towing fuel consumption justifies it.
My towing is capped at 5k as well since i have 2500 sprinter.

Go aluminum and you will never look back.
