    Default Brake ducting

I am looking for some sort of a "clamshell" device to aid in the cooling of the front brakes on my Lotus 23. I currently have a ducting hose just pointed at the back of the wheel/disk. Someone mentioned that a clamshell type device similar to that used on a Swift Sports 2000 car might work. Looking to wrap around both sides of the disk to get air to both sides of the disk. Thoughts on where to get the Swift parts that might be modified??

    Default Brake ducting

I have the ducting hose, just looking for some type of attachment or device the I can attach to the caliper mount. Ducting hose attaches to it and it channels air to both sides of the rotor

I made a pair for the front brakes on an GT1 XKE Jag years ago.

Made a pattern using a manila file folder, felt tip pen, scissors, and stapled it together. Took the pattern and cut the alu, folded to shape, and the XKE owner gas welded it together. Worked great.

    Default Ducting

Yep, I like the simplicity of the photo that was posted. I see some fab work coming and then a trip to have Dennis at Norman Racing to do his magic welding. That's why I ask questions on this forum. Good info and answers without the sarcasm......well mostly.

Looking forward to driving a single seater for the first time!!

    Default Brake Ducting

Apparently I have assumed that you all are supposed to be able to read my mind as I expect my wife to do............although Dan W probably gets what is going on as we are friends off list and knows that I have a few different projects going on.

My brake ducting questions are indeed for my Lotus 23b sports racing car. Those solid Wobbly Web wheels just do not make for good cooling. So the cooling questions apply to that project. I wanted to get a clearer picture in my mind of what needed to be fabricated and how it might be attached to the upright. Thanks for those pics, really easier that I had thought.

I have had a few other posts looking for parts for another project, a MK10 LeGrand FF. That project is coming along fairly well thanks to a few reply's I have received from the list and advice from Jay Ivey. The LeGrand will be the first single seat car I have driven.

So the posts have kinda run together..............adult ADD and all that stuff.

    Great forum and members..........thanks

    Mike

If you have ever stuffed yourself into one with a passenger beside you who is realizing the insulated frame tube along the left side of their body is getting hot, you will understand.

The 23 was a widened version of the 22 chassis.

Even with two aboard, its wonderful fun cruising around Monterey!
