    Barry,

When Bob Lybarger was selling off his equipment, there was a spindle die or mold that
could be used to check the straightness of them. However, I 've spoken to several people, none have any idea who bought it? There are many spindles out there, but if there not on the car, many of us suspect the parts are used up and/or suspect as to the quality etc.....If there was a way to check them for straightness, many more could become available so if anyone wants to come forward per the individual who bought the die, please let us know. Thanks!

    John,
I went to the link on your post and it wants me to "Make a request". Should I just state my opinion on the proposed Vee changes and that will get to the CRB?
    Thanks,
    Greg

    Mark,

I'm pretty sure Jim at SR racing used to check them. Dietmar at Quixote Racing can check the spindles and torsion arms for straightness in addition to checking the spindles for cracks. Probably some others have jigs to check as well.

If you have a known to be straight torsion arm it is pretty easy to make a jig to test others.

All you need is a 6" square that you move about 3 places around the spindle. It is very clear when they are bent. They tend to bend just above the base or just inside the outer wheel bearing.

You can lie a ruler between the bearing surfaces in 4 places around a trailing arm and determine straightness. Stick a linkpin in the end when its in a beam and eyeball the end.

If you are checking dozens of parts, then a jig speeds up the process ..... but jigs are not required to check either part.

Default Formula Vee Challenge Cup - Westward Ho Results

Results are below for the Westward Ho round of the Formula Vee Challenge Cup which took place on June 21-22 at Nelson Ledges. This was the first event of the calendar year, but technically the second event of this year's championship as half of the Quad last October counted for 2014 points.

Ray Carmody sweep both Sunday races at the Quad last year, and also qualified on pole and took fast lap in each race, so he came into the Westward Ho weekend with maximum points so far in the 2014 championship. He also came into this weekend running the Canadian radial tires, which Dean Curtis also ran for the Saturday race of the Westward Ho event. I wasn't actually at the race track for the races, so see here for details of what happened --> http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64088

How does Dean have more points than I when both us dropped out on the same lap and I was ahead at the time? Plus neither of us made it for the Sunday race?

Dean was on radials, so he gets 50% bonus points on top of his finishing position.

You got 4th (12 points) + 1 bonus point for fast lap = 13 points
    Dean was 5th (10 points) + 50% (5 bonus points) for radials = 15 points

Bonus points and they last two seasons, lots of positives to the radials.

    Default FV Challenge Cup Event

If there was a way to check them for straightness, many more could become available so if anyone wants to come forward per the individual who bought the die, please let us know. Thanks!

    Mark:

I do not have the items that you refer to, but I have made my own jigs and check spindles and torsion arms as a "service" (read free). You pay shipping.

Crack check is separate and is $10 per spindle or $15 for the pair
Just let me know ahead of time
