Thanks Dan!
They only got two laps in the first practice session due to a car oiling half the track. The second session was much cleaner. Gary Blanarik was fastest with a 1:39.782. Stevan Davis, Andrew Abbott and Brandon Abbott followed. Qualifying for today's race going out in a few minutes. All sessions should be on race monitor this weekend.
Bryon Prokopf
According to race monitor, first race:
1. Stevan Davis
2. Gary Blanarik
3. Tyler Hunter
Very entertaining race. 12 official lead changes amongst 3 drivers. The lead pack was 5 deep swapping positions every lap. The racing was just as great throughout the field.
Race 2:
1. Gary Blanarik
2. Tyler Hunter
3. Stevan Davis
The event exceeded our greatest expectations. 28 cars took the green and 26 returned for Sunday. Two days of fantastic racing with mulitple groups just like the old days. No pace cars and no restarts showed the skills of our racers and the validity of single class racing. A pizza dinner on Sat. brought the group together for bench racing and friendship. Stay tuned for info about 2015.

What a great weekend! I think the final count was 29 Vee's. No major incidents to my knowledge. Great racing front to back. I can't wait for the next one
BIG thanks to Brian McCarthy and Steven Davis.
This is the way to go Formula Car racing. I really hope we can team up with the F1600 and F2000 group again. More than one set of mechanics from the other series' stopped by to check out our cars and then sighed as they went back to their alignment pads, scales and gearbox work while we were relaxing and enjoying the beautiful Ohio sunshine.
It is great to be back in a Vee...
I have to agree with Chris! It was a great weekend and our thanks to Brian, Stevan,
Mrs. Davis and the Abbotts for hosting the Saturday night pizza dinner. I also have
to congartulate my own son Brian who broke into the 1:41's with a 90% throttle,
(my fault again) and it was nice to see the young drivers (Alex, Laura and the Abbotts)
on the track as well. Great weekend and we're looking forward to next year!

Sounds like some good racing! Can someone post result sheets or provide a link to where they are posted?
Ray
All i can say is WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE !! those of you that missed it, you missed a Great time! Great racing. it was really nice for the drivers NEVER have to worry about another class breaking up there racing!
Many thanks to Brian, Steven and his wife for pulling this together. I talked with a couple of series officals and they all seemed very pleased lets hope that involves talks for the FV to return next year.
Saturday evening get togther was really nice.

Twice the track time and no class groupings when compared to the Majors program. Kind of shines a light on the poor value of the Majors program.
Why is this the case?
Did the MO event make a profit? Were the workers compensated?
Brian
We could not have asked for a better weekend. Glad we had the opportunity and were able to participate in this event. I would also like to thank Brian McCarthy and Stevan Davis as well for all they did to make this possible. I have posted all of the result sheets on our Facebook page. Feel free and take a look. https://www.facebook.com/MaloneyRacing

I caught the last lap of Sundays race when I was setting up to spot for the following race. Good finish with 4 cars close together. Spectacular around the outside of 4 pass for Tyler Hunter to take 2nd. Good show!

Great event and it should be noted that FV was the largest group of the weekend. First time all year I'm disappointed my car wasn't together and my girlfriend was impressed enough to harass me on the way home for not being ready. I think a FV group would fit in well at more F1600/F2000 weekends and hopefully there's more of these next year!
Chris
I think the 29 car field was great and if we add:
Chris Elwell
Matt Rehm ( kicking himself for not racing)
Myself instead of my son in my car
Al Spadin
Dave Harris ( looking to buy after this last weekend)
Jim Dietz's son (age 16) who just bought a Citation.
Greg Davis
Dennis Potocki
and several from the Watkins Glen Majors, we can have close to 40 Vee's next year!
Great job Brian and Stevan!
This was my first time running with this crowd. I was running one of the F600s and had the opportunity to watch some good FV racing! Of course, Steven Davis is always my pic for the win but I enjoyed watching everyone. This was most certainly the best run event Ive ever attended. Good job to all of the FV entries and I hope to see all of you soon at another one of these events!
I had a blast all weekend helping out where I could and watching the close racing at other times.....but, I was definitely kicking myself for not bring the car. I would have been at the back but I would have been out there learning.
Thanks Mark, Brian, and Cindy for being great hosts.
Thanks Stevan and Brian for putting on the event and thanks to everyone else for great tech talk and conversations that help me understand how our cars work a little more.

Sounds like a great weekend! Would love to have a version of this a little closer to the west coast. Mid Ohio is a bit far from Portland, OR.
Except driving from Ohio, PA, New York and farther east is a little more than driving
from the west coast to Topeka or Road America, which has been the past two "Runoff's" locations since 2006(?).... I'll be curious to see how many west coast drivers
make it to Daytona next year, and I understand if they don't with the gas bill many would incurr to make the trip.
Mark
P.S.: FV9: I think Brian McCarthy is considering the same concept out on the west coast, so I would contact him to express your interest.
Talks have begun regarding 2015 and both coasts. Stay tuned.

Glad to see so many FV's show up. Not sure of the cost per entrant but running in a single class seems to make people happy. I know personally I race in the 1600 Pro Series & always find value in the track time & single run group compared to running Major's.
I am sure FV could tolerate another weekend or two like this throughout the year. Hope to see it happen.
Steve Bamford
Great event, I had a blast. Thanks to Mr. McCarthy and Mr. Davis for putting it on. It was nice meeting all the FV drivers from around the country and I'm already looking forward to next year!
There is another FV ONLY event coming up pretty soon for those that are interested. In conjunction with the FF 45th Anniversary at Barber Motorsports Park, there will also be FV (in it's own group) as well as F500 (&F600), although those 2 classes will share the track for the first PRACTICE session only. All other sessions will be single class. That is to provide enough additional track time for 'station wagon tours' for all classes before the first practices.
So far there are FEW entries .. in any class. In addition to that mentioned about, CFF and VFF will share a group. Of course FF gets it OWN PRIVATE GROUP and there will be a gathering of SpecRace Atom (Aerial Atom) cars in another group.
If you are part of any of these classes and would like to see SINGLE CLASS RACING (especially OPEN WHEEL!) continue within SCCA, please sign up ASAP. The event is the second weekend in August (yes.. the weekend after Summit Point Majors) and is only a month away. It would be nice to have a good showing and would FORCE SCCA to consider Open Wheel Only weekends for the future.

Was anyone at this event taking photos of the cars "on track" during the weekend? It has been many years since I have attended an race, but I remember you used to have two, or three photographers per event, hawking photos.
...Just looking for a photo, or two...
Chris,
You might drop by the F2000/F1600 series site and ask there. There is a guy that took pix for the main FRP classes. There's a possibility that he snapped a few of the FV group too, but doesn't know what to do with them. I have no idea who it is, unfortunately.
You could also ask over on the F2000 forum here on this site.
