I think the basic FE chassis started it's life as a motorcycle powered car. Do a little research you should be able to find out about it.

Elan DP04
The Elan DP04 is a VanDiemen chassis which is the spec FE from the rollbar forward and Elan parts from there back. I have an entire new rear section available, I believe it is for a GSXR but would have to measure to be sure. If you're interested in the conversion give me a shout.
So in short, yes. Ben, above customized the stock DP04, which then was sold to Nick/Alex Mayer and is now owned by Kevin Boeckle. I also have one that is essentially unmodified.
