    Default Runoffs records

I have been in contact with Terry Ozment as to why a Runoffs record could not also be the track record. I was told that back in the day at Mid Ohio the Runoffs were held on a different track configuration than all other races and that practice just carried over to other tracks although there was not a different Runoffs configuration. She is looking into it. She also said there was an issue involving the Regions not being responsible for Runoffs records. That falls to Topeka. I feel a track record is a track record no matter if set at a Regional, National, Runoffs or Majors. I guess there could be several track records for every sanctioning body racing a given track due to different rules they establish for similar classes.

Mid Ohiop posts lap records for the "club course" and the "pro course" which was used for the runoffs and is still used probably about 1/3 of the time for regular old club races. Even when the Runoffs were at MO some regular club races used it.

As was said ... A record is a record is a record why should it matter at what event.

During the Runoff's 10-year time at Mid-Ohio, but configurations were used.

    Thanks Bob

Turn 8, FC blew a motor the previous lap. Track was still damp, pushed out wide and that was all she wrote.

    Default Grid official .........

... for those who did not hear a grid official was standing between the wheels of a car (F/C) and the car move forward, striking her, knocking her to the ground - her head "bounced" off the pavement, her legs passed under the rear wheel and her one leg almost immediately "blew up" to be what an SCCA official told me was with a compound fracture and possible concussion.....

OUCH!! I hadn't heard about that .. and didn't notice anything as we left the grid (last) in either race. This must have been Sunday and I suppose I was focused on the person pointing us out through that 'pretty small' opening in the concrete.... or, maybe it was earlier and not from a RACE grid?

Hope she recovers from it all OK.
Does anyone have any further info?
    Steve, FV80

Oh .. this was PBIR and I wasn't there. Regardless, any info welcome.

According to Patti's Facebook page she went through surgery and is recovering at home. She is the grid worker that wears the poodle skirts,

    Thanks Steve. Will do.

Any more word on what the local news reported concerning an accident requiring the Traumahawk ? They reported that someone had to be cut out of a car. Another post reported that it was a spec racer, but I could not find anything. I hope that person is OK as well.

    Default SpecRacer....

Apparently a driver spun his car (some report(s) saying avoid another car-unsubstantiated) and ended up sideways in the track and then was broadsided/"T" boned -- the driver was in his car- eyes wide open BUT unresponsive for multiple minutes - EMTs called for a "cut-out" since the full nature of the trama was unknown and the medical condition could not be discussed/opined by the driver - It was also reported to the EMTs (by whom ?) that this was the second concussion for this driver recently so in the abundence of caution (and at the sole expense of steel) the chassis was cut to allow a better and controlled driver extraction - the the Trauma Hawk Aero-Medical Transport helio was called and sited -
