    Default 2014 NEDiv Schedule Posted

For all the Northeast Division guys, I noticed that the preliminary 2014 NEDiv schedule was posted recently.

    http://nediv.com/nediv-info/tentativ...nediv-schedule

Based off of the change up this year, I understood that there would only be Majors, and Divisionals. But the schedule shows Majors, Divisionals, and Regionals?

    Can anyone explain this?

Also, I have to say, there seem to be a lot of events, some weekends with 2, 3 races going on. I would think that the SCCA would want to be cutting back the number of events.

The way I see it, given the lower participation due to economy and other reasons, make less events throughout the season to try and help increase car count. It will make for a better experience for everyone...going back to "it's not about quantity, it's about quality". By having all these events, it will really spread the field thin. From my observations, the majority of us Regional guys can only afford to run a 3-5 race weekend season due to budget.

Earlier in the year there was a plan to rename 'Regionals' to 'Divisionals'. A couple of months ago, that plan was reversed and the 'Regional' designation was retained. All races which are not Majors will be sanctioned as Regionals in 2014.

In the past, Division championships were determined by National points accumulated by the drivers in the Division. Now that a smaller number on Majors have replaced Nationals and Conferences have been introduced, each division has been given the opportunity to define its own Division championship. In the Northeast Division, the 2014 Division Championship Series will consist of eight Regional races - one at each track which ran events in 2013. Those races are in a column on the NEDiv schedule labeled 'Divisional Series'. Regardless of the column heading, they will be regional races.

    Thanks for the clarification Terry.

So, for the road to the Runoffs, do regular Regionals get you points to qualify, or do only the "Divisiona" Series Regional count towards that?
