    Default Rf 82 ff2000

Looking for some chassis and suspension pics if anyone has any for Van Diemen RF 82 FF2000.

Also, chassis serial # question. AM 82-139. Does anyone know what the letters represent?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Sorry, no parts to sell you.

AM stands for Arch Motors. They built chassis under contract for many years for many of the small builders, including Lotus and McLaren. They still build chassis for Caterham.

Pictures of a 1982 Van Dieman F/Ford 1600 will also work for him.

If that is chassis 667, I have some history info about that car, sold to the Detroit area in 1985.

If it is the car that was in Detroit in 1985, we (primarily Dan Rosenau) were the ones who ran it for Dan Monihan.
Car came to us from Canada.

    Default Chassis number

Here is what we know. Car is an /82. Chassis is stamped AM 82 139. Chassis was built by Arch Motors (which still exists) as sublet from VD. All of the chassis at that time were sublet to Arch. Up to what point-no idea. Arch has confirmed it as chassis number correct but that is as far as info goes from that source. Car has updated /83 rear A-arms and no rear bar set-up. Am advised that it didn't work anyway which may be a reason why it is absent. I have no log book yet. No evidence of tube replacement on chassis.
If anyone wants to chime in on this question. I want to restore it BUT be sympathetic to the period. Bond the floor like nowadays or not. Car has (amazingly) a full aluminum fuel tank. Leave it in?
Looking for a complete body-remember it's FC and FF won't fit at all. Keith will do the wings. Need one SPAX shock w/single knob adjuster for both rebound and compression. Need a R/H rear axle as it's missing.

The yellow car on the left was my RF82 at the 84 Canadian GP. I finished 11th in the Canadian Tire F2000 Championship that year.
The original VD lower rear suspension structure was replaced with crude homemade unit.
Car had been red when I imported it from England.
Never saw the car again after fall/85. It did have cheap Spax shocks on atleast one end.

    Default update

Well all the bodywork arrives from England on Dec 9 and the front suspension has been redone. No surprises either which is very nice. Somebody actually took care of this thing. No broken or seized anything so far. Hewland is in great shape. Some of the rear suspension pick-up supports are looking to need work but it's all simple stuff really. Front wings are new and done. Thank you Keith Averill. Real aluminum wings not that fiberglass stuff they are replacing it with in England.
