    Default Save The Lazer

    Hi Everyone,

For those who have not heard, all of the molds and jigs for building the Lazer Formula Vee were stolen in May.I am now running a crowdfunding campaign to help rebuild all of the stolen equipment and could really use your help.

Crowdfunding is a relatively new form of fundraising where someone can post their project online to reach a broader audience. That way a lot of people give a little and it all adds up to make a big difference!

So please go to http://igg.me/at/SaveTheLazer and help out. Even if you can't participate, please help spread the word by sharing the link with your friends.

    Thanks!
    Barret Hendricks

The Save The Lazer campaign was shown on the CBS Miami news last week, but its still only at 15% of the goal right now.
If you can contribute, even a dollar would help. If not, please still share the link.
    Thanks!

It's an interesting campaign and I can sympathize with you as getting your stuff ripped off isn't cool. Unfortunately, your campaign rewards are pretty cringe-worthy. I'd think that for 84 bucks you could throw my name on your crew list and set up an EZ-UP for me to hang out in for a weekend when you get on track. For $5000 you should be able to get me on track somewhere for a few hours, maybe provide an $80 dollar hotel and $50 dollar meal as well. Your campaign is more charity than it is investment. Also, the leap from $250 to $5000 seems a little much. Throw in a $1000 and $2500 levels with a real returns on investment and perhaps you will get some interest. Truth is, not everyone is as enthusiastic about Lazer chassis' as you are, so give them something.

These things in mind, I like your project and I like your determination. I hope it works out for you.

Hey Chris, thanks for the feedback. I‘m reevaluating the levels now to see if there’s a better way to encourage more participation.

Like you said, the campaign is more charity than investment. There are equity-based crowdfunding sites, but IndieGoGo is rewards-based. While some campaigns try to sell a new product, most are charity like mine. Like all charities, the profit margin is high in order to raise money in a relatively short time. The rewards are just small tokens of my huge appreciation and the contribution levels are merely suggestions.

Anyone can contribute whatever amount they are comfortable with (and people are). Of course no one can care about the Lazer project as much as I do. But if you do care at all, even a dollar helps. In fact, according to the member list there are almost 17,500 members on this forum, so if everyone just gave a single dollar…

I considered many different different reward options while making the campaign and thought about doing some sort of rental or arrive-and-drive reward, but worried about the logistics if someone from across the country wanted to do that. The campaign is supposed to be more about the cause than the rewards and I don’t want to promise anything I can’t deliver. However, if anyone ever wants to be on my crew list or just hang out on the weekend, all you have to do is ask.

I can’t post without saying it... if you haven’t yet, please go to

Like I said, every dollar helps!

    Default Entry Fee Drawing!

    Hi Everyone,
The Save The Lazer campaign has less than two weeks, so to encourage participation I have decided to introduce a new prize.
If the campaign makes it to 50% of its goal, there will be a drawing and I will pay the winner's entry fee for a race weekend!
Anyone who donates more than $10 gets their name in the hat, $50 gets your name in 8 times in addition to the perks listed.
There isn't much time left, so please go to igg.me/at/SaveTheLazer today and share the link!
Thanks - and see you at the track!

The campaign is now over and, though it didn't reach it's funding goal, was very successful in both fundraising and networking.
Thank you everyone who participated! Your support is really appreciated.
If anyone missed the opportunity, shirts and decals are still for sale at HendricksRacing.net. You can also keep up with the progress of the Lazer project at HendricksRacing.net or on the Hendricks Racing Facebook page (facebook.com/FVHendricksRacing). I'll also occasionally post major updates on the FV forum.
