I wonder why he is leaving. His choice or not?
Given that he cited a "big day tomorrow" on his twitter account yesterday, I suspect this was not a surprise to him. I doubt if we will know all the factors in the choice.
It will be interesting to see what qualifications the board prioritizes in the new search or if they will promote from within again.

Randy Bernard might be looking for something to do.
Randy already landed at RFD TV

Doubt he wants to go anyplace else soon.

I believe that a person with real experience racing and real experience running a business like Lisa will be the best thing to happen to the club in a long long time.
Jeff, while an OK guy was an accountant, not a racer and business person.
The club will be hard pressed to find someone more qualified than Lisa Noble. To me the big question is: does she want the job?

Autoweek is reporting he was fired by the board.

I met Jeff several times and had a couple of conversations with him about the club. He seemed very knowledgable and capable to me but I am just an old fart.
I imagine that running a BIG GIANT CLUB is a difficult job at best.

The AutoWeek story seems to be an example of superficial contemporary journalism with too much of the author intruding. Who cares what he drives? I would guess the sun visor story is apocryphal. R&T is going downhill, too.

Interesting.... From down here in the swamp it is unclear what the role of the president is within SCCA.
Seems all the real power rests with the BOD. The president just seems to be "head cheerleader". Write an article for Sportscar each month, kiss babies, hand out trophies...
Maybe, the president is the one who is supposed to solicit sponsorships from outside the club? Like "chief fundraiser".
I guess the reason they didn't call me is that they already knew I wasn't moving to Topeka.
One of the reasons stated at the time that Jim Julow departed / resigned / did not seek renewal of his contract was that the board wanted to have a more direct influence on the strategy of the organization and Jim did not agree with the pace of change.
In reality, changes at the top of non profits can be frenquent where the BoD can be very influential. SCCA is probably no different. In reality Dahnert had a pretty good run considering his entire tenure in his two positions at SCCA.
I agree that the Autoweek article was poorly written - but it did get at a little more of the story.
It is hard to know what the whole story is. Dahnert may have been aproached for another position - and let the board know he had another option. They may have had a difference of opinion on future policy. He may have not met his objectives for rasing sponsorship or pursuing strategic alliances.
Ultimately as President there is no reason to stick around if you do not have the ability to do what you would like so I suspect this was more of those situations than anything particularly contriversial.
