    Default SCCA new autocross event

SCCA has come up with a new variation on autocross, Match Tour, as part of the revitalization of SCCA. Check it out here http://www.scca.com/solo/content.cfm?cid=51267
It could be fun and I am sure some will give it a try for variety. In some areas where there are not a lot of events, it will be a good alternative. (here we have 9 groups using 7 venues within 2 hr of my house)
Unfortunately, it is not a solution which will encourage more people to join SCCA. Not sure who at the top I should be talking to and I expect this is already a topic of discussion, but reducing the obstacles to participation, such as wkend memberships and the $90 membership fee would help. Any other ideas?

You can try to make a street car into an autocrosser or you can do a lot less work and make a race car into a great autocrosser

FYI - The Match Tours are basically 2012's EVO Shootouts afaik. I ran 2 EVO Shootouts last year and enjoyed them. 6 runs minimum and CM friendly course each time. The first event I qualified for the Shootout but it was soaking wet the next day for the Shootout so I was done (12 year old wet tires weren't worth putting on the car). Second event was great fun even though I didn't qualify for the Shootout. So I got the 4 class runs, 2 last chance qualifier runs, plus, thanks to luck of the draw 2 more runs.

For me I would rather have 6 runs on one course than 3 runs max each on 2 courses at normal tours and Nationals. My absolute favorite is Pro Solo (essentially 12 runs on the "same" course).

I'll likely signup for the Dixie Match Tour soon. Who else?

    Hey guys.

Speaking of the new Match Tour, we have one coming up October 26-27 in Saint George, Utah. Joey and I are registered, but we'd like to see at least 3 others to make a "real" class. Eric and Jon are interested but they too would like to see at least one other to make it a class.

So how about it Mark, David, Barry? Mike Wood this would be a good time to debut your car!

Although this is a two day event, the tour on Saturday is separate for awards and contingencies. Winners of the match tour can also win contingencies. You Honda guys can not only win a set of tires, you can also get rich!

If you are anywhere near the Saint George, come and join us. Be sure to sign up by October 16. Should be fun!

Honda isn't a tour sponsor, so no getting rich from match tours.

I can't do it this year, but maybe next year I can join. It would be the only match event that would be close enough.

I saw the SCCA announcement and gave it about 5 sec of thought. Not going to do it this year. One long drive a year is probably my limit. Have fun.

I can't drive the CM car, yet. The extent of damage from my accident, particularly the acromion repair, is really putting lots of my life on hold, unfortunately. I am going to run my Porsche at a local event tomorrow and see how that goes...besides the FS drive at Lincoln, this will be the only event I've done since early May this year
