Quite a finish to the T2 race. I don't think that car is going to make it to the scales.

Guessing Odonovich is back in his cell for the might, I'll post again.
Loshak had a big day. I can only dream. Two poles, two National Championships, Two Triple Crowns.
Tonight at Siebkins, when I mentioned to Lawerence that there was one FV that won't start tomorrow because the driver is ill, he was ready to go see if he could get in that race also.
I believe Tonis will be starting in the J.R Smart FC #90 on Sunday. That adds a bit of interest. I was thinking it would be fun to watch Grant, Miller, and Szykulski chasing Portante. But, now I'm wondering if they all might be chasing Tonis.
John Brumber didn't make it as planned. His property suffered a lot of damage in the flooding of Colorado.
It is not raining here. Temperture dropping. Could get down to 40 tonight. That will put the F500s on a very cold track at 8:45. Should warm up to the low 60s tomorrow. Prediction is for no more rain through the weekend.
Four interesting formula car races on tomorrow's schedule.
PF, thanks for all the commentary. Not as nice as being there in the rain, you'll need to find a puddle tomorrow
Who is ill?
Regards,
Barry
My money's on tonis... Slightly biased since we have the mygale he won with in 2000 (last non-vd to win?). But seriously, how many runoffs competitors have their own Wikipedia page dedicated to their racing career?
F5 race was sort of interesting. Attrition due to mechanical failures was a big part of the story.

Reid is ready, just needs to unplug the video charger. He is ready.
Kautz is checking everything for the 10th time.
Rand has resorted to firing me and bringing on Gibby. He says i was not old enough to be on the team.
OBTW, Grant is getting a new Elite bullet in the FC 29 car.
Keith Grant has sold his FA to K-Hill. Getting a 16.
Jason Byers has sold his FA. Keeping his Crossle.

CJ and Mueller were having a heck of a dice with multiple lead changes each lap until CJ's pipe blew a hole. Strange that a few laps later Mueller blew a hole in his pipe too. With CJ and Mueller dicing it up Weida was closing back in on them. It could have been a great 3 way race for the podium. Just about the time Weida caught Mueller and was looking to put a move on him Mueller started falling off the pace with the blown pipe.
That was a great move CJ put on the rest of the field going into turn 1 at the start to take the lead. As fast as he came into that corner riding the inside I expected him to go right by the leaders and off drivers right, but he somehow made it stick and came out of the corner with a several car length lead. Oh, well. F500 always seems to be a race of attrition.

FV was a great race - tons of battles all through the field.
Kautz wins FF on a pass on the front straight.

Reid was great on the podium. He was a class act listing out all the folks that have helped him. Reid also praised the whole FF community of drivers.
The race was breathtaking from the stands in T5. TV may show even more. Apparently on the last lap, as they were passing a back marker between T3 and T5 Tim launched off of Reid's rear wheel and was visibly airbourne. Those in the tower saw it on the track videos, even commenting on a puff of smoke that showed up on the screen. Tim said he was 18" to 24" in the air. Reid said he didn't even feel it... on that lap. Basically the race was unbelievably close.
Scotty gambled on R25s, explaining why he was comforably in 3rd early on. But the clouds parked just enough to heat things up too much for the 25s. You can see how bundled up we were on grid by looking at Reid's picture a few posts above. By the end of the race we were taking jackets off.
SCCA is tearing deep into Tim's engine (second year in a row.) Impound closed at 8pm and locked up. So, Tim and Nick will continue unbolting stuff at 7:30 am.
Both Reid and Tim were at Siebkins tonight.

I have watched a half-dozen different races so far, and it astonishes me that at a National Championship race, with the best drivers in the country, on a FOUR MILE TRACK, how difficult lap traffic has been once again. Not just one corner, but 6, 7 and 8 corners holding up a leader or a podium contender.
Am I the only one noticing how blind the lap cars seem to have been so far this weekend?
Guys, watch your flags and mirrors!
And the 50th Runoffs is in the books. The GTL race was a fitting way to end it...0.007 second margin of victory.

They are lapped cars for a reason....using mirrors is not the only thing missing. I am not bashing people, if you want to race by all means get out there. BUT...are the Runoffs a place for that? If you are getting lapped on the 6th lap do you really need, or even want, to be there?
I hate saying something like that, but in some classes the speed difference was uncomfortable to watch.
A few Runoffs videos have started popping up on Youtube.. I'll just leave this here, might be my favorite so far

Coop left before I could verify.
Is it true that a major rubber company has been developing a special Rain II, or "Hurricane Tire", for the Daytona Runoff's?
