    Default Speads Info

    Hi John,

I have just bought a JKS (British Speads) from the UK and am new to FB cars. We are in the process of introducing F1000 cars to Western Australia.

I was looking with interest at your photo's and have a question to ask in regards to the lifting lugs you have attached to the front wing uprights. Do you have another structure inside the fiberglass nosecone to support the weight of the car without breaking the nosecone.

Additional as my car was bought as an incomplete car have you any photo's of the clutch mechanism at the gearbox connection. I need to work out how to hook up this component.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Derek

    Hi Derek

There is a structure inside the nose cone that is part of the crash structure and hooks in to the inside of the nose. It is very sturdy. i will try to remember to take a picture tomorrow when I'm at the shop.

The clutch linkage is inside the clutch housing, on the left side of the engine on top of the final drive sprocket. It is a hydraulic cylinder, and is integral really to the engine. Then you should just have a hydraulic line going up front to the clutch master cylinder. It is hidden under some scat duct in the pics, so I'll try to take a better one of that too.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions.

Hi there...besides the extra set of wheels available for purchase and the sprockets, do you have any other spares for the car such as wings, suspension bits, etc?

Not much really, a pair of springs, brake pads, some aero bits that are optional on the body, parts to connect the front anti-roll bar that is disconnected now.

Derek, sorry, I got in a rush yesterday and forgot your pictures, but today should be calmer.

    Default Engine Mounts

    Hi John,

Thanks for the additional photos. I apologise for asking for more details however I bought the car without engine mounts and the supplied drawings aren't that great.

Would it be possible for you to provide some photo's of the front and rear engine mounts (particularily the chain tension system).

    Cheers,

    Derek

Derek, sorry to be so slow, I just can't seem to get to the shop.

The engine mounts are just flat plates of aluminum. I will get some pics when I can.
The chain tensioning is done at the rear sprocket, which is mounted on the diff. The mount is eccentric, and turns to move the centerline of the diff/sprocket fore and aft, adjusting the chain tension.

It is time for you racers to get ready for the 2013 season!

To help the cause, I will reduce the price of this low time car by $2500 by including the spare set of wheels and sticker Hoosiers.
