Hi,
I'm just getting raedy to bring back to life my 78 Ralt Rt-1 which was restored 20-ish years ago by Wilbur Bunce. I know the engine will need to be rebuilt before running on the track, but I want to try and start it, before pulling it out for rebuild. Everything looks good as it was put away proberly.
The gearbox has 20 year old gear oil in it, probably Hypoy-80 or 90 and untill I pull the box off the car I won't be able to get all of it out just by pulling the bearing carrier. Is there any problem mixing modern gear oil with the old Hypoy? It won't be driven, but of course everything will be turning so a little lubrication would be a good idea!
One more question. Whats the prefered oild for a Mk9 these days?
Thanks,
Ian
