    Default Timing belt

What are you guys or the engine builders using for timing belts ? I hate to keep bugging the pro shops for basic questions like this. I did buy a nice used engine and have looked inside it, all seems good but I'm changing the rod bolts to be on the safe side and want to change the belts also. BTW, the rod bolts were $42 ea !

I use the standard Toyota production belt. p/n 13568-19145. Thirteen years, no failures.

Problems (in general, not belt specific) seem to occur with quality controls in limited production parts. I've had special (Toyota) head gaskets fail in 1/2 hour of running. I use the factory head gasket, p/n 11115-1670.

Good luck with your new machine.

Hasselgren uses oem belts on all of their engines. I use the OEM belt on my daily driven 4age Atlantic engine and have no problems to report. They're cheap enough to replace regularly to prevent failure.
