Has anybody tried to run Pi club software using a Mac?
Thinking about buying a new laptop... thought about buying a Mac G4 and running windows in the background to power up the Pi software. Just wondering if it's a totally crazy idea.

Not really Frog, one of our pro Zetec drivers, Jason Bowles, used his Mac laptop to look at our PI data this year. Not sure if you would be able to download but he was able to get session data off our laptops via a flashcard.-Dave
Froggy,
being the graphics kinda guy I am, .. I have several mac's, .. great machines, .. and a TON faster then a Windoze machine.
I haven't tried my Aim software on the mac with Windoze in the background. But I do know other photographers that run some digital camera software that way cuz it's faster then running on a native Windoze machine.
I have a Dell PC ( PC stands for "Peice of Crap" ) that I got for $600 to use at the track, .. and it's very slow.

Yes, it works, and works ok. Virtual PC or the open source alternative is kinda slow, but there are supposed to be good speed improvements in VPC7 which was just released. I am using VPC5 still (tires or software? tires or software?...)Originally posted by Purple Frog:

The only somewhat tricky part is getting the USB port to emulate in the PC, or with Pi2, get a USB to Serial converter to work emulated to the PC via the USB. It worked first time for me, but not sure if I was lucky or good.
