Hi Gents,
Anyone FV going to Pocono to try out the new track?
Anyone know if this is still a longbox track?
Regards,

I'm giving it some thought Harry and I know Bruce is as well. Looks like a lot of us will be scraping NHMS in April

Hi Mark,
I'm thinking about Pocono, but would have to get a work commit moved. Do you know which gearbox is run there? We ran the longbox two years ago. I have to find Curt's email and ask him as he might be thinking about Pocono.
Looking forward to the race season. The snow is still a foot deep around the trailer though so I can't get at her yet.

I don't have any insights on the long box / short box question but I do know that we will be running a significantly different course this year. Rather than using NASCAR Turn 1, we will be using the South road course. This configuration was used in the 1999-2001 timeframe. The infield paving and runoff areas have been greatly improved for 2013 so Pocono looks to be a much more pleasant experience this year.I'm thinking about Pocono, but would have to get a work commit moved. Harry,
I've only run there once but I'm pretty sure the oval and straight part after the chicane was what made it a longbox track. If that's not going to be used I would happily show up with a shortbox. If it's too short, pray for rain (but ask for rain without fog.

Kinda stinks it's on mothers day! I would catch a lot of **** for that one

Configuration is now this attached. I plan on running it-I live ~30 minutes away.
Anyone make a more firm decision about coming yet? Being that it's a shortbox track again, and the income tax return makes this a pretty solid bet for me, providing no car issues arise.

Hi Matt,
We're thinking about it, moving toward a go.
I hope that we do (it's a team decision). Looking forward to racing with you again.

I am thinking about it. My engine is with Dave Carr right now, so if I get it back in time, I'll look at running. Only 1.5hrs away, can't pass that up. Other good thing is it looks like FV is in group one. Hope to be better than I was at the Glen last Sept...
It would be cool to see both of you guys again. I've heard we could end up with a pretty big field of Vees if everyone that is seriously thinking about it shows. I've never run Pocono, but have watched many times. FV is always the entertaining class because of the high speed drafting packs on the long circuit, we'll see how well it goes on this layout now that it's all re-done. As far as being Group 1, its nice for travel, but can suck due to the cold early mornings.

Registration is on www.MotorsportReg.com
We were there yesterday for an inspection and visit. Wide and smooth.

Looks pretty nice, and also looks like it will be fast. Smooth & wide to carry some speed. Thanks for putting that up!

Time to check if iRacing has this course online.

I saw the video of Pocono. It looks great. Can't wait to try it out.
We're up to 9 Vees.... c'mon guys, let's break in the brand new track with a big field. Remember, no long box needed.

Does it still rain EVERY race weekend at Long Pond?
Craig and I both rented garages. Is that going to be the norm for the rest of you guys?
If you do not pit in the garage, is there electricity elsewhere?
Does the track make an attempt to put like vehicles in one area?
<you get the gist>

I'm in. Should get there mid-day Friday to catch the PM test sessions. A work obligation prevents our leaving Thursday night.
There is an interesting mix of FV characters from several regions ... should be a lot of fun.
We rented a 1/2 garage. Anyone know how we can get the FVs near each other?
John, last time we were there, RVs were parked just outside of closed-off infield fence near the service buildings. We had to hop the fence to run power from the power pods to the RVs. Hopefully that won't be the case this time around.
