Default ApexSpeed Post League COTA Fun Run!

Ok, guys! Now that the league is over, we're ready for some post racing season fun. I've configured the server with the Circuit of the Americas track (AustinV2) mentioned in the other thread. The server is configured for the Lola FF (EDIT: NOW SRF) mod. The hotlaps tracker is monitoring fastest lap times so lets see what you've got! The only things I ask is that you race on the server with your real name as your rFactor profile name and that you keep it on the track in order to not record any bogus lap times. Have fun!!

    Keith,
I couldn't get the V2 to load on my computer, but wanted to compare it to Petr's version from WCS-series.com, which I did get loaded Can I run it on "the server" you mentioned? I do have the LOLA, which I run routinely. If I can run it, how do I do it? [Details please, I am technologically challenged.]
    Many Thanks,
    Jim

You need to run the exact versions that the server has in order to not get automatically booted. I don't have the time to do a complete tutorial now, but there are many discussions on this forum on how to join the server. I'd be grateful if someone could link to one of those.

Hmmmm...might try this tonight. How long are you going to keep this active?

Hey Keith - how come you're not coming down to CotA next week with the CenDiv contingent? You're missing a great opportunity.....not sure what the opportunity is for, exactly, but I'm convinced it's a great one!

I'll probably leave it active for a few weeks at least.

    Default got the track...

but, of course I got a mismatch on the lola t340 mod. I got the mod from no-grip that was posted a while ago. do you have a link to a newer version. I was able to test a bit and it felt like a tank and went all over the place? oh well, don't have much time to work on this now - back to work on the house, which I told the wife that after last night - I am your's honey..
    maybe I lied.

Default i agree with ya colin

I tried the formula bmw and had a tuff time keeping it up right, but it was a lot more than the lola. I would love to try one of those older F1 cars there.
also, the "T340HDV" mismatch I was getting wouldn't let me even log on to a track off line the next time I booted up so I just deleted the files.

but why was that rar. file so big? took me 20 minutes to download and it says it is 302.63MB??
I did try the srf off line and will need a lot of time at that track to get a good lap, COTA is a very technical track and seems slippery.

So after listening to the COTA races jumped on the sim last night thru on 50 srf opponents and went for a drive all i have to say is LOL. You should all try it every lap half of them spin in turn 4 the other half lose it in turn 19. You only get half a lap before full course yellow just like the real thing. Had them turned up to 105% didnt seem to help any.

Run Steve Davis's mod for the LOLA and it will be much more fun. I am down to 2:35 at COTA, and now going well enough to get the feel of the place. I don't compare this to what people get on the server, [wherever that is,] because the mods ioncrease horsepower and make more gears available, but I will still be interested in the results if people are doing the course in the LOLA

A very neat track, but with my steering wheel out of commission, I couldn't get within a second of the two leaders with my ultra-smooth keyboard configuration.

Anyone interested in having a post season race? It could be our version of the runoffs... I'd like to get at least 8 cars to be up for it in order for me to coordinate it. It's a fun track and would be great to race on. Everyone would be welcome to race whether you're a league racer or not. If we don't get any takers, I may just leave the server on COTA and change the car to something else instead of the SRF.

Jer, I just average out how lock-to-lock I have to be for each turn, it all started with GPL back in '98, and I found a way to make it work.

I can probably make it; to make up for my lackluster showing this year. Tuesday nights work best for me, as the misses is at roller derby practice.

I want to get in on this. I just got my setup together a few weeks ago, but haven't had much time messing with rFactor. It seems a few late nights are in my future.

Am I correct that we are still on rF1? Any tips on the order of operations to get this thing going?

Here's my home made wheel and pedal rig.

Correct rF1 now and according to Keith rF2 planned for next season.

You will need to download and install COTA v2 from the link below into your Gamedata/locations folder.

    http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/show...02&postcount=5

You will need the SRF v2.2 from the link below install it into the Gamedata/vehicles folder.

    http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail...20Racer%20Ford

Then download the skin pack from the link below it scrolls along the top of the page. It will need to be installed into your Vehicles/SRF folder

    http://home.comcast.net/~keith.carte...dia/index.html

If you are having trouble with the file structure i found this page to help

    http://www.rfactorcentral.com/rfacto...20in%20rFactor

I just went thru this a couple weeks ago and its not to bad after you get used to it.

After the COTA race do you want to soap box derby our sim setups?

It doesn't matter to me what day we make it. We picked Wednesday based on popular vote to one of the polls posted for the league. Sometimes it doesn't really matter what you pick, I guess. If everyone can make Tuesday for a one off runoff event, that's cool with me!

Ok, lets plan on April 2nd (Tuesday). Everyone is invited. This means people who have run with us in the past and people who have not. As long as you log into the server with your real name (First Last) and keep the racing honest by racing realistically and keeping more than half of the car on the track surface at all times. There's a lot of painted track sections at this location which I don't consider to be part of the racing surface so please don't take any liberties with this. Everyone is encouraged to practice on the server ahead of time to make sure they have everything working and know how to join the server. Come play with us!!

No. My dad is back into his daily routine for the most part aside from a lot of extra doctor appointments. I'm attending a data webinar on Tuesdays now so I'm not sure when we will do the fun run. Are weekends good for people? How about a Sunday evening?
