Default RTJ chassis; photo history help

    Hey guys.

I bought the Canadian RTJ chassis several years ago from the Masons, I was wondering if any if you knew of or had any pictures of my car. I have a couple from Pocono & Topeka 2006, but that is all. I got it after the '06 SCCA runoffs, and it was painted a candy red by then. As it has chipped off, I am seeing layers of blue and maybe gray (more than just primer showing, I think), and it got me to wonder what all the car has looked like thru the years.

This is chassis 2 (from 1992, according to the book at least) of I think 3 total. I understand that chassis 1 was written off, and that chassis 3 was being run by Randy Smith.

    Thanks for any help.

Thanks a lot, Shane. I have some more at home somewhere, but I think these 2 should be enough to recognize it.

Here is Nelson Mason at Pocono 2006:

Here I am at Watkins Glen this year, with some minor changes:

    Default finally some results...

    Hi Matt,

So I looked into my human encyclopedia, also know as my dad, Peter Viccary, and came up with some interesting information.....

"#89 is Jay Mason at the SCCA Nat'l at Mosport in Sept.,'94. He ran in the FV class, you can tell by the wheels he is using.
#78 is Max Schoemer. He was in with the Masons and Randy Smith. He's still partners with Randy in the 944 Cup series. Max won the Ontario championship 1 year. His car clearly has the F1200 wheels and tires. This picture was taken a year or 2 later, but I am not exactly sure when.
I've included a qualifying result sheet from the SCCA race, both Jay & Max were in it. The photo of Max's car is not from this weekend, however. Take a look at the sheet; it makes for some interesting reading.
1994 was one of the years when compatible SCCA & CASC cars ran together; sometimes they did, sometimes they didn't. It was always tough to get a representative field of US drivers. Finally a couple of years ago they gave up. I think the Labour Day date went to the IMSA race.
It's interesting to see the time differences between the SCCA race tires and CASC street tires.

Interesting to see some of the names on that qualifying sheet. Many people from both sides of the border will be very familiar with them! if you can't see the results page very well, direct link here: http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps02889d44.jpg

Very cool. Thanks, Shane. Definitely matches the blue that you can see right in front of the engine in my 2nd pic. I think an easy way to tell my car would be the more squared body around the helmet & the rear exhaust cutout. Someone else told me that a RTJ was a gray/red fade #49 at one point as well, but without seeing it, I'm not sure which it was. Last I saw Randys car maybe 3 years ago, he had a new body without the rear "shelf" on it.

Max is listed in a '94 RTJ, so I would guess that was RTJ-03. However, it was suggested to me that more chassis were built using the same logbooks.

And yea, those results are pretty neat. It could very well be a current FV race today. I love history lessons like this.

Matt, I still think that's the prettiest FV on the planet. You know where to come when you decide to part with it.

Ha. Yea, I know you do. I remember when you were asking about it a while back. I appreciate the compliments. I still tell people I think FVs are some of the ugliest cars, this one being the exception. lol.

I am trying to get a new car designed & built on my own, but that is a very slow progression. I know exactly what I want/need to do, just need to increase the race budget. Currently, I am going over this one & fixing it up properly. If/when I do sell it, you will be one of the first to know. I hope you aren't a big person if you want it, though.

    Doug,

I'd have to agree with you. I always LOVED the lines on the RTJ. I'd totally thinking about getting back into an FV if one came available.

Hey Rob, The F1200 guys would love to have you. Your old Womer is sitting in Mississauga with a motivated seller. New Autowerks engine, new Vallis transmission, rebuilt spindles and gearshift linkage. Current spec wheels and tires. You could buy it back, much improved, for 2/3rds of what you sold it for.

Agreed. The Adams Aero is pretty nice looking in my book too.

So now there are 3 that aren't butt-ugly IMO: the Adams Aero, RTJ and the Silver Bullet.
